Spark plug

I have a 50cc tao tao model 2012 and for some reason the spark plug end will not stay on the plug. I see no reason it should keep coming off. It has the long shank into the spark plug hole and slides on the end of the plug; you know the kind that has to have the cap unscrewed so you are plugging the wire onto the threaded shaft part only. I will pull the whole seat and get it plugged in good and it seems tight but then a week or so later with not notice and the farthest I could ever be from home it comes loose so the engine shuts off and I am on the side of the road burning my hands up in blisters getting it back on just so I can make it another 100 feet. I have had to put it back on 20 times for a 5 mile ride. Then again I might run for a month with not problem. Is the plug just too worn out and I need to replace the coil (since it is all one unit) or is something else causing my plug wire end to keep coming off?

I had a loose firing one that the engines Cooling Fan was blowing off. same thing 10-20 feet or so. Or Id be blasting down the road and Boggggggggggggggggg, she dies I took the Rubber boot off the end, fixed. My scoot never sees rain or nasty weather so not necessary.

Just get a new Boot Cap they screw onto the Coil Wire. Before you screw the New BOot Cap on Cut about 1/2 inch off the End of the Coil wire so you get nice new wiring to screw the cap onto. Alleyoop

Found the problem with mine. IT has a metal shank that goes into the hole to the spark plug and of course pushes onto the threaded end of the plug. It also is formed so that the metal part fits the plug like a spark plug socket to keep it on better but my old one was worn and didn't fit tight there, it would just turn around the plug instead of fitting it properly. I put an old spark plug in it and use pliers to adjust the metal back to it's form fitting shape even knowing that since it is already worn it won't last long but i also used a zip tie make sure it stays on. Ordered a new one but haven't had any problems since so I have the new one to replace it next time I take the seat off for repair or maintenance.

Those metal ones are the worst boot caps get an NGK like the one I posted they have the rubber boot on the bottom that fits nice and tight on the lower part of the plug. The other problem that causes them to pop off is you must have some slack on the coil wire to the motor. The coils are zip tied or bolted on the frame and the coil wire may not have enough slack for the movement of the swingarm and it will pop it right off when a big bump is hit. Alleyoop
