hello all today I purchased a rocketa scooter with a 150cc big bore kit GY6 engine it didn't run great when I bought it but now it runs worse and im not sure what to do the air box is removed and it has a unifilter cone filter on it when I bought it there was also a cloth wrapped around it. they said it was to make it "run richer" which doesn't seem like the best way to go and I thought that was probably making it run poorly so I took of the cloth and it ran great for a bout a mile it actually reached 55-60 and im 220lbs and then as I was running at 60mph it tried to stall I let off the gas and feathered the throttle and limped it home but ever sence it doesn't run worth beans! any ideas ? im new two scooters and 4strokes I ride 2 stroke dirtbikes mostly so im lost

sounds like you're running way too lean. first thing i would do is open up the carb and see what size jets are in there. and please don't run it without some kind of air filter.

Yea they had the cloth wrapped around the filter to cut some air off. You need to take the carb bowl off and see what size jets are in there, apparently you need little bigger jets. Most likely to small that is why they used the cloth around the filter to cut the air off. But first try and adjust the carb here is how to adjust it. But have the air filter on the carb NO CLOTH wrapped on it. Alleyoop scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/1499/4ts-carb-tuning

k ill try your suggestions and don't worry I wont run it without a filter. could it be from not having a stock airbox and only having a UNIfilter ?

the stock air box has restrictions built in allowing a very specific amount of air into the carb. this, along with the proper jets, maintains a balanced air/fuel mix for the engine. installing the unifilter disturbs the mixture and you are forced to do one of two things: restrict air intake or upjet to allow more fuel.
