hi all. haven't been on much lately. been riding scooters still though. put 1000mi on the Yamaha this last season. heres a few videos of my maytags. I have a 72 and a 92. the 72 is a 5/8 of a hp and is from approximately 1947. I had a cold at the time of the video so I sound funny. by the way. the washing machine this engine was on would have cost $190 back when it was sold new. these units weren't cheap! you probably could have bought a car for that much (maybe less). this is a maytag 92. from approximately 1930 it has about 1hp. it uses a hit and miss governing system unlike the 72. it cuts spark when it gets up to speed. these engines both use a 16:1 oil mix using regular non-detergent 30w oil. if you go to my youtube I got a lot of videos pertaining to engines. have a lot of oilfield videos too if you look back in my uploads or got to my playlists. Thanks. I enjoy seeing your engines. Hopefully I will soon be moving back to the country and will have the chance to try some myself.

I knew a guy once that when he purchased a maytag engine it was probably the straw that broke the camels back when it came to divorce! I should have offered to buy it from him and saved the marriage.

I'd love to have a pony motor or two but the ones i've seen are beat and the seller wants way outta line too much,,,you'd think they were solid gold i paid $100 for the 92 (non running) and $150 (running) for the 72. thats a lot less than what you usually see them for. the 92 usually brings $150-250 and the 72 usually is $250+. the early upright cylinder units can go for 500+ and theres a rare early horizontal engine that looks similar to the 92 that uses a mason jar as a fuel tank that can go for several thousand . they call it a fruit jar engine. heres a video (not mine!!!):
