Hey guys. I got this vibration going on at higher speeds. It's not constant but it seems like it comes and goes like in a 3 second timeframe. It's not loud and the whole bike doesn't shake. Handle bars don't shake. I feel it under my seat. Checked motor mounts. Checked lot of bolts and exhaust. All is tight. It's a TaoTao 50. Never had the rear wheel balanced. Maybe its that?
Any experience with this anyone? Thank you

Not tire......If it comes and goes there is nothing about the tire that would change, it is either in balance or it isn't.

The Rim is fine. Not sure how I could tell though to be honest with you. I was thinking if that sound is coming from the inside of the CVT. Like maybe its the stock clutch? Or the belt making that feeling? Not to sure about it. I heard the TaoTaos don't come with the tires balanced. Not sure about that either. I mean other then that, it rides fine. But that vibration feeling seems more like you feel it when the scooter is going uphill or any means of starting to ride a little uphill compared to a straight flat road.

Going up hill or an incline puts more of a load on the motor so it could be the clutch is slipping a little and that is what your feeling. Try this going up the hill or incline crank the sucker all the way on the throttle before you start up the hill and see if it goes away or if it starts not right away but after a ways up when the motor looses some rpms(in other words the motor slowed down some then the vibration starts).
By the way how many mph do you loose going up a hill or incline? Say you hit the bottom of the hill or incline at 40mph, what is your mph when you crest? Alleyoop

I couldn't tell you the exact amount Alley. But When I start going up a hill if I'm crusing on a straight doing 33mph, I could dip down probably to around 21-25mph when I start going up the hill. I was thinking of getting a performance clutch but what would be the best for the cheapest price available? I seen a black one with everything, 1500-2000rpm springs in it for like $70 shipped.

WOW!! that is a lot dipping down that much means going up a hill you are loosing to many RPMS which in turn you loose to many mph. The cvt should be tuned so that if you hit the bottom of a hill say at 40mph at 6000 rpms you maybe should loose 5 mph depending on the length of the hill BUT the rpms should stay pretty much the same. This is WHY i always tell you guys GET A TACH it is the most importand little thing you can get to tune your motor and CVT. Without one you and all of us are guessing as to what to do to either the carb and or the cvt. Now the Vibration can also be that the Clutch Pads are glazed and when glazed they will slip. But you can get some sandpaper and sandpaper the glaze off and you then will have new pads. Alleyoop www.trailtech.net/digital-gauges/tto/742-a00IN addition if your going to buy a new clutch Get one with more pad material. This is what I have in my ride. Notice the pad area that grabs the bell, alot more material about 1 inch more than MOST of the Clutchs that they sell. Bigger pads more material to grab the bell, less slipping less glazing.
