Well now after warm up it only runs for a moment if i touch the throttle it dies. You crank it starts runs for awhile and again dies. Closed the mixture needle alk the way in. Backed off 2.5 turns so it should be a good mixture i think. Starts and dies. At this point in thinking valves maybe?

It should not take that many cranks for it to start. I would adjust the valves at this time.
After it starts give it throttle slowly not fast blips see if it takes throttle slowly. Sure sounds like it wants more fuel because it bogged(that BOG SOUND) when you gave it throttle.
After it starts have you adjusted the Fuel Mixture? Meaning start it up at the current setting which is 2 1/2 turns out Do not touch the throttle and then turn the screw counter clockwise 1/4 turn and see if the IDLE GOES UP, if it does KEEP TURNING it 1/4 turns wait 10 seconds or so to allow the motor to catch up with the new setting and DO that as long as the IDLE GOES UP. If the IDLE GOES DOWN on a 1/4 turn then back off the 1/4 turn. YOU WANT THE HIGHEST IDLE FROM THAT ADJUSTMENT whichever causes it to rise EITHER RICHER OR LEANER you want the highest IDLE.
The FUEL HOSE from the tank to the carb are there any up and downs in the line? This is gravity fed system RIGHT tank higher than the CARB right? The fuel line MUST NOT be LOWER than the carbs fuel inlet and down the line no up and downs in the line from the tank. Alleyoop

Tried again today. Before it started I removed the vacum line to the fuel shutoff and suctioned on it. No fuel vapor or fuel. I could see tge fuel bubbling into the filter. Replaced the hose gave it a couple of blips on the throttle and it started right up. Idle was really high. I let it warm up and it settled down. I preceded to adjust the mixture. It was rich. When turning clockwise the idle rose. Stopped when there was no change. Backed off a bit. Ran great with no bog. Letvtge bike cool and restarted. Ran great again. Going back late at night to see if the cold changes anything. I think it was starving for fuel. Maybe the vacum fuel shut off was stuck? I'm going to order a new one anyway. I don't like the way the fuel lines are routed.
Let's see how it goes later tonight

FANTASTIC!! You got to finally adjust the mixture to get the highest idle. It should be good now maybe just a tweak left or right but not much if at all. You will see how it goes UNDER LOAD.
Just remind you wife if it is cold out to give the THROTTLE a couple of good twists that will squirt some fuel into the VENTURI and should start much easier and quicker due to having fuel already out of the bowl. Alleyoop

Back to the drawing board. Ran great....it definitely had a bad fuel shutoff valve. Connected the carb directly to the tank with an in line filter. Was running great. After idling and ruding for a while it died at the stop sign. It would not start again. It must be the valves. Going in there tomorrow, going to file the PDI items that I have not completed. I'm going to take it from there.
How bad is it not to have a shut off valve? I would forget to close it in my old gold wing for days....never an issue. I forget my wife will probably forget that's why I'm going to replace it with a vacuum one again. Please advise

Go with a Vacuum one they are pretty reliable and cheap to replace. Alleyoop
