Hi.
I have Jonway 250 -08 with Honda Clone engine. I have been driving two years with this bike without charging problem. Actually, I have not paid attention to the charging because I have no battery drain problem at all. Today I checked how this scooter charges. Idle rpm voltage is 14.4V and higher rpm it drop to 13.2V and stays there. When I put jumper wire alongside the R/R red wire, charging voltage goes up to 14.4V and is stable in idle and higher rpm. There is somewhere weak contact, I think.
Wiring diagram shows that R/R red wire goes to battery positive terminal. but I'm little confused with one thing. This R/R red wire does not go directly to battery positive terminal via 15A fuse in my scooter. It seems to be connected to ignition switch. When I switch ignition on, both wires , red and black are energized. When ignition is off, both wires are not connected. In my scooter, driving light is on when I switch ignition to on.
Has somebody encoutered this type of R/R wiring.
Best regards Ari

Today I remove all covers and opened wiring harness and followed wires where they was connected. From battery positive -> directly to ignition switch and clock. R/R both wires get power from ignition switch. Here is Photoshopped wiring diagram. You can see difference. -arskal-

Yes, that is usually how the DC CDIs are wired the 12volts go to the R/R then out to the CDI and Battery to charge.

Voltage lost solved.
I opened wire harnes and installed extra wire from R/R to fusebox and from fusebox to ignition switch. Also from ignition switch to battery. At the end I installed relay for ignition switch. Now all poor wires and contacts is very good. When head lights is on, charging voltage is 14.32V with idle and does not rise with higher rpm. When cooler fan and headlight is on, voltage is 13.35V with idle and rise to 13.90V in higher rpm. R/R is original china quality.
