WHY DO YOU PEOPLE BUY this crap, a racing stater clutch!!! What do you BELIEVE it will do for you?? A RACING STARTER CLUTCH WOW!! all a starter clutch is for is so you can us the electric start to start the motor that is all it does. The starter turns the IDLER GEAR which in turn turns the STARTER CLUTCH which in turn turns you crank to make the piston go up and down and hopefully the motor starts. Now a starter clutch does not need a heavy duty starter unless you have over 200 PSI in compression. What you bought is a starter clutch with more balls and springs to eliminate slipping when it gets spun by the starter, seller is laughing all the way to the bank. So if it is whirring then I would say your idler gear is not in right and it is not engaging the gear from the starter.
The IDLER GEAR SHAFT fits into a built in slot on the COVER so if you did not align the IDLER GEAR SHAFT when you put the cover back on the IDLER gear is not aligned and is not engaging the STARTER CLUTCH.Here is what it all looks like: CLICK TO EXPAND SO YOU CAN READ THINGS BETTER:
