I'll try not to complain too much and get to the matter at hand. I bought this roar 250cc scooter ZN250T-39c about a year ago and it hasn't been anything but a pain. I've only put 324 miles on it and quiet frankly I'm afraid to ride it too far. It left me stranded last year about a month after I bought it and I had to push the sucker 2 miles to a shop. I've put a new battery on it, as well as a starter. Well now, the battery was sucked dry over the winter. I jump started it, rode it about 20-30 mins around town and when I shut it down, it don't have enough juice to restart. That's only the small problem. Almost immediately after I bought it, it would overheat. I've flushed the system and refilled, same problem. I can let it sit and idle and after 10-15 minutes it starts overheating. I wouldn't recommend one of these things to the Chinese, let alone an American. If I could do over, I wouldn't pay $500, much less the 2 grand I put in it. Suggestions on what could cause the overheating?

Sorry to hear about all your troubles with it. First lets attack the battery 20-30 minutes of riding around town is not going to recharge a dead battery. You need to put the battery on a trickle charge 2amps and leave it overnight and hopefully it will recover the battery, If not you will need a new battery.
Now about the overheating FIRST thing to check if the FAN IS COMING on?
If it is coming on then there is air in the system or you have a leak someplace so check around the PUMP and hoses and see if there is any antifreeze on the ground from under the water pump.
Also is this a 244cc HELIX CLONE or the 257 LINHAI motor? Alleyoop

It would be helpful to tell us which engine you have, either the horizontal cyl yamaha clone or the vertical cyl honda clone. There are diagrams and generic service manuals in the library here. Also instructions to burp the air out of the cooling system. A multi-meter is almost a requirement for owning a chinese scooter too, sooner or later you will be needing that and a test light.
These scooters are actually pretty simple to work on. Most people who are cussing them have never done a PDI before riding the first time too.

Also is the electric fan for cooling system running or even plug up to the wire for power?
