Yea I think the shut off is due to the parts getting hot and only happens under operation so your testing as before will check out ok. Alleyoop

When getting the new stator make sure the wiring is the same as yours. Take a picture of the wiring on yours. Alleyoop

So, knowing what I know about the history of this scoot... The previous owner said it wasn't charging and it didnt come with a battery at all. Later, after finding that fried rectifier it prompted me to ask him if he ever had someone "Jump" the battery he had, he said yes. So, they probably fried it by accidentally reversing polarity. So, I figure, the stator causing it to shut down too was the last straw for him, and hopefully, will be for me too, lolol!

OKAY, I've got the new stator in there ! I had to re-fit the ends on the wires with new disconnectors as the new one came with a totally different connector case. I want to avoid any further probs and get a reality check on which of these two wires go to which wires on the bike because, the pics I took ahead of disconnecting were in a cramped dark spot and so my pics are not very good. Am hunting diagrams but cannot find the right one. Specifically, the BLue/W wire on the stator harness goes to the R/Black on the bike AND the R/Black on the stator harness goes to the R/W on the bike, yes? I am inclined to think that the R/B goes to R/B but, with my limited aptitude, want to trust how I think they came off of there rather than, my assumption. And don't forget to wish me a long lived ,strong blue spark!!!

Well, it looks as if it was the stator! It's been running on a strong blue spark for about 45 minutes WITHOUT shutting down. I drove it up and down the driveway every 10-15 minutes so heat wouldnt build up too much since, I want to check the valve settings one last time. I'm still getting a bit of flickering at the lights and I think that I do have a vacuum leak somewhere as, I can't get the idle to stay steady, since the carb was taken off and on. I'm going to order a new manifold and see if that doesn't clear it up. I'm still concerned that I can't hear a change of RPM when I adjust the mixture screw too. Perhaps, the vacuum leak is causing that? But, at least the danged spark problem seems to be gone!
