The rain held off so I decided I would hop on my Chinese scooter with the 72cc bbk and take her for an adventure. I decided I would take a ride downtown. I live in St. Louis and according to google maps it's only 8 miles but I think the route I took was a bit more since there were some streets I wanted to avoid. so I'm riding and everything is hunky dory, I pass by "the hill" which is St. Louis' little italy, turn down Manchester Avenue and go through "The Grove" a neighborhood full of hipsters near St. Louis University. I go through some questionable neighborhoods, then finally, I ride by the Arch and Busch Stadium. All is well, or so I thought. on the way back I noticed my takeoff wasn't as zippy as before, then the scooter got louder, and louder. I made it home thank goodness but something was definitely not right Turns out my muffler was hanging on by one bolt. one of the studs was missing and it was misaligned from the exhaust on the head. if it wasn't for that one bolt the whole muffler would have just fallen off. plus, my speedometer quit working somewhere through all that. I'm guessing i just need a new cable. on the upside, I didn't have to push. on the downside, I'm not sure if I did any permanent damage to the engine . in the future I will ALWAYS use locktite. Lesson learned.

Been there done that.. Man my 150 was LOUD when the weld on the header pipe broke there at the head flange. Thankfully I was only about 2 miles from home. That's when I finally decided to scrap the POS stock muffler that weighed like 50# for a much lighter performance muff.

Wow! Glad ya got home first. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss! I don't think I used loctite on those bolts. I think, I'll do that. I had made a decision not to when I was putting mine on because of how many exhaust nuts/bolts on cars that I have had to remove that were practically welded in place, by heat. Being vertically mounted, it does sound like a good idea to do it
