I recently acquired a TaoTao Scooter. I am told it is a 2012 model. No idea of the style, etcetera. How can I identify exactly what I have, including cc's etc so I can find parts upgrades, etc for this scooter please?

look by the side stand it will have the motor number, it is your common TaoTao chinese scoot it should have some decals on it unless the previous owner took them off and or repainted it. It is most likely your 50cc with the 139qmb motor. Put up a picture of the scoot:

I will take more pics tomorrow including the crancase number. I was told by a local shop it may be a 150cc (the speedo goes to 80mph).

Well the motor will be itched on the crankcase so then you will know which one it is a 50cc or 150cc. The 150s tao tao most common 2012 are powermax VIP they have like torpedo holes on each side of the fenders.

50cc " gy6 " most common type of four stroke scooter motor. Also referred to as 139qmb I THINK the extra p in the etching in the crankcase is just a manufacturer identifier, not sure tho.
Easy motor to repair, build up, and find parts for.

Ok, its a 50cc NOT a 150. With the pictures we can then find the model it is. They make so many and change the coverings but underneath all the same just the skins. Also what size tires are on there? Alleyoop
