Was a beautiful day for riding around here as well! Even got some two-up riding in with my fiancee on the back. Lovely...
Until.
Rode solo to pick up some fast food dinner for myself. Cager decided he needed to stop suddenly in front of me. ( I know, my fault for following too close ) Locked up the rear and I think the front as well, because the scoot got squirrelly just before I came to a stop and I couldn't keep it upright. Scoot wound up on her left side with a bit of road rash, although I was almost stopped before she went down and she probably only slid a foot or two on the concrete. I wound up on my back in front of the scoot. Luckily I know how to take a fall as there's not a scratch on me and my helmet never touched the ground.
Shook my fist at the cager as he drove away, dusted myself off, picked up the scoot, fired her up and proceeded on my merry way.
Ah well, the joys of riding in the city...
Scoot safely my friends!!!
Jim

Jim I know the feeling. Had a guy cut us off once for the on ramp lane with a 3ft gap. Thinking of getting a paintball pistol. Two: one paint, the other pepper balls.

Last week I finally got the 750 out for a real ride. 98 miles round trip to a badly attended Bike Night. Real Power on the hills and it's solid as a rock in the nasty cross winds. The downside is 38 mpg and a 3.6 gallon tank. My Fashion is getting 80 mpg on the long trips.

Great!!!!!! Glad to hear it!! Yea it's tough to beat the mileage of a scoot ,, into triple digits with the Stella ,, for around town it's the ride of choice

I had the big Kawasaki out again tonight. I met with a group of Retreads (Motorcycle Club) for ice cream twenty miles away. In comparison to the Marathons I've been on the scooter this was a real short hop. It is so empowering to roll up the steep hills here with no effort and see the speedometer needle swing quickly when I crack the throttle open. After it warms up the bike just floats along and I scarcely even hear the exhaust. Only the sound of the engine humming underneath gives a clue to mechanical activity.

Say what you will ( anybody not you) but there's nothing like opening up a big bore bike,,,very satisfying,,,I just love it,,,can't wait to get the r80 sorted out,,,been ridin small stuff for a while now,,,going to be a big difference having a freeway capable ride,,,don't get me wrong I love the dr350 and my Stella and in the right situations they are great in their own right but I loves twisting the loud handle on a big bore,,,,

I had one of my heavy weights out for a solo run yesterday morning too. Made a stop at the Tonawanda Reservation, (do ya know where that is Cy?) then back to the house...clocked 115 miles, home an hour before lunch time. Not a long ride by any means, just a nice morning jaunt, on a beautiful day, listening to the hum of that German made mill. The heft and power of a larger bike is food for the soul. Ahh....life is good.
Had the wife out on the other B-mer last Sunday, doing an 83 mile loop around a few of the western finger lakes, then later, took the scooter on a 31 mile sunset ride. Neither of those could be considered rips.... though both were very enjoyable.

After last night's little warmup on the Kawasaki I was ready for tonight's epic voyage. Too long a story to explain and, yes, it involved my new relationship. I had to go from Deposit to Hyde Park, NY on the other side of the Hudson and back to be home for the dogs. Eight hours, 300 miles and mileage figures in the 54 mpg range. Except for a sore wrist from holding the throttle for three hours straight each way it wasn't too bad. For a 33 year old bike the Z does okay. I might have used the Fashion tonight but it holed a muffler and I have to order a new one. So I pulled the big bike out of the Bull Pen and off we went.

The dr 350 slings mud pretty nice happy with handling and power. Alot diffrent than a scoot but they both have there place. Kz i heard threw the grape vine you had a major delema with a scooter or something broke bad.

I had a transmission shaft break early on with the 250cc but ultimately replaced it with one from Honda. Except for that it's been nickel and dime breakages or wear. Closing in on 16,000 miles with it now. Of course I keep Japanese motorcycles in reserve. Unbreakable and totally reliable bikes are good to have around.
