What is the stock contra spring rated? Is it 1000rpm? I want to go with stock... is the $20 NCY really worth getting over the chinese $8 contra springs??
Both my stock clutch and eBay clutch I bought have like a black or dark colored spring. I'm thinking to just buy a new contra spring if I'm able to open up the clutch.
So the belt sliding all the way back up after I squeeze the clutch pulleys apart I assume must be a sign of contra spring being worn/too weak and not putting enough tension on the belt. edit: WAS THE BELT! The belt is only a week old and is already shredding. I put my previous chinese belt and it didn't slide. Brand name of the bad belt is: Xing-Fang VS Belt

On my 90cc I put the red contra spring in and every belt I put in there ripped up or flip over, purchased & changed clutch and contra spring with a Kevlar belt didn't have that problem again.
My 2 cents.

take a carefull look at the alignment of the cvt and clutch. i went through belts bad with my first scoot and noticed how out of whack it was, but of course, only after getting a new scoot. an extra and not needed or needed but not there washer can be a big difference

dyoung - I'll take a look to get an idea how it's aligned. So, basically you mean the belt should be straight and not curving from front pulley to back pulley, right?

Update: do NOT drill holes anywhere near the variator fan!! I decided to drill a few extra beside the intake thinking it'll suck in more air...WRONG! After a 7 minute ride my whole CVT cover was deadly hot.
Explanation: I'm pretty sure it's because the fan's airflow starts escaping the front where the holes are drilled, and so half the air never gets to the rest of the CVT. Well I duck-taped those "bad holes" back shut and the cover has become touchable and holdable again after a 20 min ride..much better. Glad I caught that!
