My cvt belt broke a few days ago, I had went to put the new gates belt on it today, and as I cleaned out the case, I found bits of metal in it, couldn't find where they came from, until I went to put the belt on, and discovered the front variator was shut/hi gear position, turns out all the roller retaining metal was broken. Is this even posible?

Could be a bad batch of metal the variation was made of

If you just asked a question I think you just answered it right.

If you just asked a question I think you just answered it right. Well, I tried to google search it, but there wasn't much in results. I found another board that had a similar topic, that Allyoop had something to say on it, so I asked. I don't know much on fixing them, hell; the capabilities of a CVT itself is far above what I used to think about them.

My question is are you sure it's not parts made into belt how about some pictures. Or take off the cvt cover and see if anything shows signs of rubbing scuffing of some sort.

Factory belt, way over 2k miles, speedo doesn't work, so not sure exactly. Yes, I saw the rollers were strewn about all in the inside of it. It's my '14Quantum, as of June 1st I'be had it a year.

Don't sound like any repair is possible. Take it apart, pictures might help depending. You will more than likely have to replace it and the weights.

Yeah, it was replaced, and it was a pain to get off.

That is an interesting way to do it. I must have missed that in your postings but, I will remember it. I do have an AC impact wrench.

That is an interesting way to do it. I must have missed that in your postings but, I will remember it. I do have an AC impact wrench. I've got a 24volt impact, man is that thing neccessary in general. I actually had to break the variator off, it was on so tight. What happened was, when the belt broke, it closed up, and those lil plastic guides came off, and those fingers went buh-bye.

Yes, richardv , you must have. I posted it early on in my restore. I had no impact wrench or variator tool. Where there's a will.... Right? I do have the 12v now, that I carry on my scoot .
