In the last month I've begun moving from my home in Deposit to Hyde Park, New York on the other side of the Hudson River. I move the scooter and bikes the old fashioned way. I ride. Yesterday was the Honda Rebel's turn to do the 156 mile trip and I was kind of stoked to do it. I've ridden the bike a few times 80 miles on a round trip but never 156. I could wax poetic about the differences between the Rebel and the CF Moto, but I won't. The Honda handled the trip like a mini touring bike and kept up with traffic on the Interstates. With the bigger wheels it tracked steadier and was amazingly comfortable. The 750 Kawasaki does it slightly better but the little bike did the trip just fine.

Bet it road a bunch smoother too. Not just the bigger wheels but better shocks in the rear right? For me going from a majesty to the dirt bike is night and day difference in the ride. With my back hurting all of the time I notice/

Bet it road a bunch smoother too. Not just the bigger wheels but better shocks in the rear right? No kidding John. The ride was much smoother and what I like best about the bike is twisting the throttle at highway speed and it moving faster RIGHT NOW. The CF Moto250 by comparison just oozes it's speed slowly. I got off the bike with no aches or pains except for a little butt burn. I wear a kidney belt so my back was fine. It gets 68 mpg at speed so it's even cheap to run.

No shot against the cf ( scooters have their place )but you can't compare the scoot to one of hondas biggest sellers ever ( engine wise),,, they have sold well over a million ,,, and with proper maintainance I would expect 100,000 miles from the rebel,,, maybe more,,,, that would be a pretty tall order for the cf,,,

No kidding Pete. I enjoy the power of the 750 Kawasaki but if I ever needed to just commute any distance the Rebel would be hard to beat. It's got more punch than the Fashion and is solid enough that you never feel you're riding a quarter liter machine. As I told others, it does 65 mph easily enough and I really don't need any more than that. It is an under rated machine.

We talked about this on more than one occasion Jim,,, in the states "we" ( collectively as americans) consider anything under 7-800cc's a moped,,worldwide, anything over 175cc is considered a full sized bike,,we had and still do have the luxury of inexpensive fuels,,, in europe they sell it by the quart( liter),,I overheard a German chick at a station filling up her girlfriends car,,, she was saying how cheap it was,,, and she would kill to get US prices in germany,,, Asia is even worse,,,$8-9 per gallon,,, think about that one for a second,,,now you know why the honda cub sold and still sells briskly too around the world,,, but crap sales here in the us,,, with better than 60 million sold (2008 numbers) worldwide there's something about that little bike that has the worlds attention,,, hey you even have a clone of the thing ,,, THEY'RE FUN!!!!,,, no clutch but has gears,,,getting back to the rebel,,, great bike,, nice feel,, good power especially with a few judicious mods,,,great quality ,,what am I missing?

You know what the bike reminds me of Pete? My Dad's TR-6 Triumphs. He had a few. Single carb, less stressed than a Bonneville and good for every day use. His 1961 Pre Unit went over 61,000 miles before he sold it and ran like top. Every time I look at the Rebel with its 360 degree twin engine, single carb and Junior Brit bike sound it reminds me of his bikes.

I'd grab a 250 rebel in a half second if I could find one that the seller didn't want my right leg and left nut too for it,,, wouldn't mind a 450 rebel,,,( again with the crazy stupid high resale prices),,,I see the occasional 250 here and there for sale on cl but if its lean they want almost msrp,, or they're so beat and still want $1590-2000 scheesh
