Wow, thanks! That is super helpful (and much simpler than I would have anticipated).
He mentions quite a few combo's for the distances. 3 thou on both, 4 thou on both, 3 on one, 4 on another, etc. Is there any way to figure out the 'best' setting for my GY6 without having to try one setup, then run the engine, then take it apart and try a different set up, then run engine again and see what is better?

I have had good luck with .004" for both. I found before I used the tool for the job I had to reset it many times. John

What?!?! What is this TOOL you're talking about? Here I was going to tell the young laddie how easy it is to make the valve adjustments using the videos and/or PDF files walking you thru the process, but now you tell me I'll have to reset it or do it again... and again... and again?
I'm not that cheap, but that took doesn't look like much for $32. Hey, if it does the job quicker and easier and prevents me from having to reset or re-adjust, then I'll order one right now.
Is there a video out there that shows me how to use "the tool?"
Now I kind of feel like a tool.

Dang... that New York shop has the magnetic drain bolt set for the GY6 for only $15.49 (a MUST have for anyone with a GY6 scooter). I paid $24.95 from Amazon for mine. Bookmarking that site.

Kind of a late reply, tvnacman (or John - that's my name, too), but your link didn't exactly answer my question. It was some helpful and insightful info about untested vs. tested parts that you were selling. Did your small venture grow into a much larger one? Are you the John pictured and referenced on the NY Scooter Parts website? I see that they're advertising their parts as being tested parts.
If that is you, then congrats on your success. HA! It is you or someone posing as you, because I just bought "the tool" thru PayPal and it went to someone with your name on here as their email address.
So, once my new tool arrives and I need a little help figuring out exactly how best to utilize it for my valve adjustments, I can just contact you for help.
COOL! You will be hearing from me AND shipping my tool to me sometime soon. I'm the guy in Iowa who ordered it.
