i was toolin along on my taotao 50 yesterday (it was running great, as usual for initial 8k miles) when the engine started revving VERY high, it lost power & died. any suggestions as to possible problem(s)? any help would be greatly appreciates as this is my only transportation. thanks, rich

does the engine start and just not move?

or is the engine a no start?

thanks, john. tried to start it but it won't. had to walk it a mile up slow grade in 93 degrees yesterday (am a right below-knee amputee)... definitely not fun. borrowed a pickup & going to pick it up from where i locked it last night. cheerz, rich

an old friend of mine same thing below the knee. 93 degrees is hot. Was is cranking normally? Did it have the sound like a cordless drill?

it seems that i (kinda) lied. due to your question, i tried to start it a lil while ago when i went to pick it up with a pickup (hee-hee). the bugger started! tried again when i got home & it still starts BUT i'm VERY hesitant to ride it anywhere until i get the issue fixed.

yes it did have that winey (drill) sound, like it was tryin to go but with no resistance.

any suggestions? cheerz, rich

Check the fuel tank cap,,,it may be a venting issue
