I'm not saying I want real old school but I would prefer some of the conveniences like electronic ignition and disc brakes on a bike. I just know that these newer bikes won't stand the test of time. Once some expensive piece that requires pricey tech services on a bike goes that bike will become a shed queen.

The ign module on a lot of bikes out running around today is worth more than the bike! Then when we get into fuel injection a problem there is going to ground a lot of bikes just past the guarantee. Not just bikes either, I have a small outboard that the ign. module is not available and when it was it was more than motor was worth.
It would be real nice if manufactures would get together and use standard parts. That goes against their strategy of planned obsolescence. Todays society is used to "toss it and buy a new one" That theory is good when we talk of a $50 item but a $2000 4 year old bike it flat sucks.

I used my KZ1000 to commute 50 miles round trip every day for for almost 15 years. Forget just replacing tires, things wore out that were senseless. My rear brake switch had a spring inside that rusted and collapsed after 8 years. I fixed it with a ball point pen spring. My front brake switch had a brass plunger that was pushed in by the brake lever. It had s square end that rounded off and deflected instead of pushing in. I had to replace the switch at 9 years. Wires behind the gas tank rubbed through from the gas tank moving on its rubber mount and shorted out. Tape and a new fuse fixed that. None of these problems were from poor design, just wear and tear. Imagine all the issues the sensors would have from time and miles on these new wonder rockets.
