I have a VIP Future Champion 50cc and it is giving me trouble starting. I have to engage the throttle to get it to start and once I let the throttle go it stalls out. It has been doing this when I come to a slow or stop at a light. As you can see in the attached picture I took the carburator apart but it was clean. I am pointing at what I think is the choke. That brass colored thingamajig sticking out of the exhaust end of the carb. someone told me it was the choke but then he tried to sell me a carburator. don't know if I trust what he was telling me. I am stumped. would the fuel valve cause this to happen? I really would like to overcome this issue. Attachments:

Does this look anything like your scooter? If so it operates about like any other GY6 engine and this is your choke or auto-enricher: It enriches the mixture until your scooter warms up and typically won't cause your symptoms. What you're pointing at may be the outlet for that fuel circuit, I can't tell from the photo, but that's inconsequential. Have you tried setting your idle up a little? Sometimes it's the smallest things. I think the guy is trying to sell you a carburetor and I'd hold off, it's a little premature for that. If it was the fuel valve you wouldn't be going anywhere with the scooter.

I just got to say bashan, you give good details!
Thomas, always start with the simple stuff. May be a stupid question but are your air and fuel filters clean? Take off your air filter and see if it idles. Probably not the choke if it still does it when it's warm too. Could just be an adjustment on your carb like Rich mentioned. My 1st guess for this issue would be dirt in the idle jet.

I agree with the dirty Prime jet theory. Also make sure your idle screw is set right. Should be about 1400-1600 rpm warmed up.

Ok guys here it goes.
Bashan Yes that does look like my scooter; however, the vacum lines on top and the air valve on the side are not on my carb. there does seem to be a place that looks like a hose may go on and it is in the proximity of the electric choke in your picture there appears to be a hose on it in your picture but I don't see any hoses that are not connected on the bike.
Next Here is what I have so far. It started having trouble with start button not responding all the time and I would hear the starter spin but not turn on the engine. I would have to hit the button several times to get a turn, then start. It would stall a moment later until warmed up. Then I turned the idle screw a bit and seemed to get better performance then it started stalling when I caome to a slow or sudden stop. I was still getting my top speed after warm up and after a distance traveled I would still idle at a stop. I was told it was probably the carb so I took the carb off and opened it up. It looked clean but I took out the jets and even though I could see through them I soaked them in carb cleaner over night and checked the injector and float ect. All seemed well so I put it back together. Now, I started it up and went for a ride only to lose power gradually until no power at all. Pushed the bike back to the yard and hasn't started since.
OOps. I did put the fuel line on the inlet - what appears to have a hose line on it in Bashans picture - and then realized it was in the wrong place. I took the carb back off to analyze if any damage. Doesn't appear that this inlet does anything at all so I put it back together and back on the bike.
I took the fuel valve off and blew into the inlet but only got air through the outlet when I tapped it while blowing through the inlet. I was thinking that this may be the problem. I am going to try to run the fuel line directly to the carb today and see if that starts it. I assume if it does that means the fuel vavle is bad or I have a vacum issue. Is there a way to test the vacum?
I hope I have made this clear enough for you guys. I appreciate the help.
By the way, I have thought about the valves too. 7000 miles on it in four months. I ride this thing hard and I put at least 100 miles on it a day. My only transportation.
Thanks
