I’ve recently been looking into getting a another 150cc scooter. Someone a couple of years ago relieved me of ownership of my last one.
I am thinking of buying a new one more localish so I don’t have to deal with waiting for the mco paperwork & then going to the dmv to pay the fees.
After doing a bit of research I found a place up in Arlington, Tx (I live in San Antonio) about 4.5 hrs from me. I decided to keep searching to see if I could possibly find a better price & discovered something interesting. Txpowersports.com, lowestpriceatv.com & myscootersandatv.com are all the same company.
Why they need 3 different web sites is beyond me. To me, with all the shady dealers, this doesn’t put my mind at ease. According to the BBB, they have 23 complaints against myscootersandatv.com. Lowestpriceatv.com has one complaint on the ripoff report and both txpowersports.com & lowestpriceatv.com are not listed on the BBB web site. Myscootersandatv.com does get a B rating from the BBB tho.
Now I’ve been looking at the Tao Tao Lancer for a variety of reasons & here is what I’ve found out so far from the 3 sites. Both lowestpriceatv & txpowersports offer “free shipping” (cha right!). Myscottersandatv charges for shipping, but has a lower initial price. Interestingly, lowestpriceatv does not have the lowest price lol. When figuring in the shipping of the one site, it goes like this...txpowersports $939, myscootersandatv $944 ($799 bike & $145 shipping) & lowestpriceatv is $949.
All offer a 3month parts warranty std & a 1yr motor warranty std free although the one ripoff report claimed the warranty only covered parts now.
I can’t say how legitimate this/these place(s) is/are since I haven’t purchased anything yet, but I most likely will since I’m having a hard time finding another dealer closer. I personally will be be going up there in person to keep any b.s. to a minimum. I just wanted to let others know about the multiple sites and which one is actually the cheapest. If your going to order online from another state, you might want to try to find what you’re looking for from someone else more reliable. I’ll update this after my purchase, but it could be a couple of months since the holidays here now and all my money is going towards presents for the family.
