Variator cover oil leak 50cc scooter By trevcasey1 (Read 502 times)

Hi guys I have an oil leak problem.
At first I noticed that I wasn't getting any pulling power when twisting the throttle so I took off the belt cover to find oil all over the belt, clutch, variator and centre spindle so Obviously the belt isnt gripping as it should i then removed the variator to find the seal was loose and behind that was a rubber washer i removed that and discovered droplets of oil. My question is do I need to replace that seal as it looks fine.and what exactly does that black rubber washer do? The bike is 12 years old. 56 plate. Direct bikes db50qt-5. Thanks in advance

You need to replace the seal, that rubber washer maybe the seal coming apart
Take and post a picture..

Overfilled oil ,,,crankcase pressure pushed it out most likely

Thank you cyborg that definitely sounds possible i will drain some out and post results. Thanks mate

You might check the crankcase ventilation tube (hose that comes off of the valve cover). Make sure it isn't pinched, kinked, or closed off in some other manner....it must remain open so your engine can breathe.

Thank you rks that makes perfect sense there is a bolt that is in the end of mine I will remove it asap. Thank you for this valuable information it's much appreciated
