The crank case needs to breath and having a bolt in the end of it the pressure obviously built up and was pushing oil out of the crank arm spindle and finding it's way to the belt, variator, clutch etc hence the no grip.

Hi guys after having an oil leak onto the belt. I replaced the crankshaft seal and put everything back to original state and the bike won't accelerate, it's runs but won't pull off it just wants to die. I mean i can put my feet down and hold the bike there with full throttle and it just judders and dies. The original air filter is present. I'm usually pretty clued up with bikes but this has got me scratching my head... I'm sensing clutch problems but not sure hence the post. Please help. Thanks in advance

Hi guys I have an oil leak problem. At first I noticed that I wasn't getting any pulling power when twisting the throttle so I took off the belt cover to find oil all over the belt, clutch, variator and centre spindle so Obviously the belt isnt gripping as it should i then removed the variator to find the seal was loose and behind that was a rubber washer i removed that and discovered droplets of oil. My question is do I need to replace that seal as it looks fine.and what exactly does that black rubber washer do? The bike is 12 years old. 56 plate. Direct bikes db50qt-5. Thanks in advance

Success! After excessive reading of troubleshooting guides I found that the connection on the side stand kill switch was corroded I then disconnected it and checked for spark holding the boot with my hand and yes I got a whack from it so I connected the coil back to the spark plug in the engine and she fired up wahey lol. She's been standing for a while so a carb and petrol tank clean is definitely needed. Will post results when she's running consistently. Thanks ever so much for your help guys it's much appreciated. Trev

Thanks for your reply John. I continuity checked the whole loom to find there were quite a few dodgy connections so I replaced them accordingly. I put the loom back on the bike and did a few voltage checks... I have 30v+ coming out of the stator and into the cdi but nothing coming out of the cdi. I have tried four different cdi's (they can't all be faulty) one of them has an led light that lights up when I try to start it and that is quite bright so I know there's power going to it.is there a way to bench test a cdi with a multimeter? Any ideas please? Thanks in advance Trev

I have taken the loom out to continuity test each wire (in progress will post results) as I was removing the loom I noticed that the indicator relay had the green wire disconnected from it so I have replaced it with another. Would that have effect on the bike not starting? I don't think so personally as I have a bit of knowledge but I thought I would ask just in case. Thanks in advance

Hi guys.I have a direct bikes db50qt-5 with no spark. New stator New cdi and New coil. The frame is connected to the negative terminal on the battery by a black wire with loops on each end and the green wire from the loom is connected to the engine case. But still no spark. PLEASE HELP!! I also have a black wire with a loop on each end around ten inches long and I'm not sure where it goes.... I have checked the voltage across all wires on the 20v setting on the multimeter I got the following readings from each wire... the blue and yellow wire direct to the coil I got 0.3v - 0.6v. From the boot cap I got 0.47v -0.82v. The yellow wire from the stator 0.49v - 0.62v. The white wire 0.59 - 0.73v. The blue and white pick up wire 0.69v. There is power going to the black and red wire that goes into the cdi because I got a shock off it but I couldn't get a solid reading from it, the digits were all over the place on the multimeter fluctuating from plus to minus. Any ideas please because I haven't got a clue and I'm stuck. Faulty loom maybe???
Thanks in advance

hi guys im having trouble with my bike. i have just recently reverted back to 50cc from a big bore 70cc as my cooling system was not sufficient enough to keep the engine cool and therefore kept overheating and cutting out. i put a new 50cc piston and barrel kit on it and it was working fine then one day it cut out and wouldn't start. i was advised it was the stator so I bought a brand new replacement (4pin connector) I fitted it and it still wouldn't start. i checked the 4 wires from the stator and found there was no voltage coming from either wire. have you any idea what the problem is please? all help is much appreciated. cheers.
