I bought a TaoTao Lancer from TXPowersports .com back in February of this year. Overall I’d give them a 4 out of 5 stars.
The order was processed fast & I received the scooter about a week later...probably because I live in Texas. Before I had even received the scooter, I had already received a call from the store asking for the vin # so they could do the license and title work. I was actually surprised that they were trying to get it so quickly! Once I received the scooter, I called back and gave them the vin # and about 3days later, I had the license plate! Around a week or so later the title came in the mail. After my last scooter purchase from a different online store, I was really shocked at how fast this place got me that stuff.
The only real reason I give them 4stars is because they never actually had the scooter at their store. It came from TaoTao directly. Had I wanted it to be assembled and tested, it would have taken a bit more time...guessing at least 3-5days more. Personally I’m just not a fan of places that sell stuff they don’t actually possess.
The scooter came UPS LTL freight in the usual packaging (on a palate, in a metal frame surrounded by a cardboard box.
The only problems I had with the scooter was the speedometer cable was missing the drive gear/shaft so my speedo didn’t work. The fuel gauge was wired backwards ie. empty was reading full & full was reading empty. The carb that came with it was gummed/plugged up and would not idle. Had to buy a new speedo cable and carb since the stock carbs are sealed. But all this is TaoTao’s fault not TXPowersports.
I did a lot of research on where to buy the scooter from, and to be honest, the only reason I bought from this place is that their in my state & I knew they would have to take care of the license and title issues. Had I gone with an out of state store, I could only find 2 others that had an “A” rating from the BBB. TXPowersports gets a “B” rating.
