When I first got this Helix clone 4 1/2 years ago, I was getting 70mpg. It has slowly decreased. After the tadoo with the air cleaner last week, I guessed that makes sense, the more it got starved for air, the mileage would go down. The shop just removed the air filter, so I've been running with none. I assumed my mileage would increase. I just filled up and checked it, 56mpg! What can I do to increase my mileage? He went through the carb, so that's good. Why would I lose 15mpg?

Lots of factors to consider ,,tire pressure ,belt condition,,variator ,,,,,and I'd get an air filter on there asap

Check the belt. When I changed the drive belt on my Fashion mileage went up to 80 mpg. AS i wore in the mileage settled back down to mid 60s mpg. My old one had cracks between the teeth after 9,000 miles and six years.

I've had a loud whining when rolling. By the time I get up to 45 it's screaming. As it gets hotter, it gets a little quieter. I don't know what it is, but I've been suspecting the belt. It's not very old, but it was a cheap one that came with the cheap drive kit, variator, clutch, and belt. It could be it. I'll buy a new belt in a couple months and replace. Nothing I can do about it right now, so I'll wait to get in there. Floor work is tough these days, I'm never too sure I'm going to get back up!
