Hello I have a 150cc GY6 engine in a quad identical to one that would be in a scooter, I still have much to learn to transmissions but when I try to start the engine the quad just wants to start driving on its own without me pressing the throttle at all and I have to hold the throttle a little bit to get it started. When it is started it will want to drive forward without me pressing the throttle and will eventually stall. When I stop to put the chain back on the quad, it won't roll forward or backwards as if something in the CVT is stopping it from freely rolling when engine is off

Take it apart and see. One of the rollers could be stuck and jamming the CVT into the engaged position. If not that check the clutch. One arm on the pads could be stuck.

I really like the fact that MY gy6, and probably yours too, can work without the transmission cover. the cover is not needed.

Well since mine is in a quad, it sticks out the side, wouldn't want my foot to go in it. classacted

The cover for some reason has a gasket and I don't know why. there isn't supposed to be oil in it or anything but the gasket has been there for some time and the cover wont come off, I cant think of how to remove it without damaging the cover. kz1000st
