Hey guys. Does anyone know ehat the heck a carburetor controller relay is, what it exactly does, and if it can be bypassed? Part ID: XDZ 080704 www.vmcchineseparts.com/products/carburetor-controller-relay-4-pin-xdz-080704I learned how to weld recently, and the first thing I did with that power was chop a 150cc frame so I could swap my 50cc up without having to get new plates and such. Everything went fine but I'm not getting spark on this motor. Parts replaced: -Stator and pickup--this thing has a 12 pole stator. Yes, 12. -CDI Box -Spark Plug and Wire/Coil The voltage regulator in my kit wasn't compatible. The wiring harness is stock from the 150cc motor and frame I got for this project. I've been tracing wires for hours looking for a short, haven't found any. I've bypassed my ignition switch and tried it that way, same result. Everything seems to be wired up correctly. It turns over, pumps fuel, all the lights work but I'm not getting any power going into the plug coil when I crank it over. I don't know what that carburetor controller relay is or what it does, the place that the link goes to for buying it doesn't even have a clue. Their description of the part is "We have no idea how this thing works but some scooters need them and we have them." I'm trying to start a new job after labor day so I'm desperate to have this thing running by the end of tomorrow

Guy I bought the 150cc from, sold it to me with an AC CDI hooked up which I thought was stock because he told me everything was. After replacing everything electrical to brand new and still having the same result, I finally tried a DC CDI and it worked. Talk about a major facepalm. :/

ac and dc cdi are definitely not interchangeable.
your carb issue is probably the enricher you're talking about, and I've had mine unplugged for the entire summer. my 150cc starts right up without it. when it gets cold, I will have to use it. it makes a rich mix for immediate startup, then leans the mix out. I think it does it every time you start which results in wasted fuel and extra carbon buildup. I hate carbon buildup.

But I wasn't sure when I was basically done with the project that the last owner had put the wrong CDI on. I had no paperwork or model for the scoot so I had to wing it. I figured out the circuitry by completely unwrapping my harness and tracing the wires. I'm a licensed electrician so as soon as I traced the main power to the CDI and realized it was a direct connect to the battery, I understood the problem and promptly fixed it. Just sucked that I had to tear everything apart to find out how it was wired lol

well, if you got the scoot cheap, that's your reason for it. the previous owner's loss is your gain. I would much rather be able to diagnose and fix vehicles than have the money to pay somebody else and NOT be able to fix them. can you imagine that. he put the wrong cdi, and all you needed was a cdi that was probably less than ten bucks. maybe even less than five. the cdi's for my 150cc scoot are less than four dollars. the parts are so ridiculously cheap it's sinful. my scoot gets about 80mpg and has been surprisingly reliable and has almost 3000 miles on it now. I actually highly recommend these vehicles, but only to conscientious mechanics. do that engine oil change at 500 miles. that timing stuff is unforgiving.
I'm assuming the scoot is an arrow. I have a downloaded shop manual for one. I don't even need a manual for a tao tao with that arrow manual. I collect manuals.
I was telling you about that carb enricher. my investigation found that it does what it does every time and has no way of knowing that it needs to. you may want to do your own investigation, and I'd like to see what results YOU get, but I have also provided my findings on other forums and nobody disagreed with me so far. I've got a collection of japanese mopeds that I drove for years and during summers I never choked any of them and they would start right up the first kick.

157qmj idles and runs good. Once I'm past half throttle it "falls on its arse" so to speak. Has bigger muffler. Cone filter makuni pwk26 carb . Nibbi rubber boot (carb to intake) and nibbi intake boot. 16/36 final drive upgrade. I've tried adjusting the needle clip. Still dogs. New ngk cr7hix iridium. Racing coil and cdi. Only thing I can think of is the spacer between intake and head(slightly cracked) super glued back together and rtv silicone to ensure seal. I'm irritated beyond all hell! Please!

try removing the muffler, then the air cleaner one at a time. test after each.
