No, reason is the CVT is a variable speed ratio system, if you did put a sprocket and chain on from the clutch to the front variator you would only have one speed, probably very slow. Scoots that do use chain drive systems have a transmission that you change gears on and a auto-clutch.

It could probably be done, but as Gmoney said, you'll be stuck with a single speed.
Correct me if I'm wrong.... Trikes, ATVs and Buggies that use a GY6, still use the same belt driven CVT, usually a short case model. (I have one in my garage from an ATV... don't ask me why) However, instead of mounting a wheel on the CVT's output shaft like a scooter, a sprocket or gearbox is placed there that will drive a chain to the rear axle. The same goes for the 250cc models.

They do in fact exist. I only know this oddity because I was noodling around Google for CVT info a while back and happened to notice this link. It is not practical for scooters as you will see:

yea thats pretty cool Bashan, but very complicated for the use on a scooter and I'm sure it requires a lot more power to run that system than it does a belt drive set up, seems that would be a low rpm industrial type set up not anything that could be exposed to the eliments such as any dust and such. but neat all the same, cool find.

We batted this around a little bit over on GY6. I thought it might be of interest in general discussion in case some of you missed it. It's not really practical, just a concept exercise. Rich
