Maybe when the weather breaks. I have a lot of work to do and without a good place to do it. These triple digit days make it hard to be outside. This thing has been been in storage for years and hasn't had a valid tag on it since. Not to mention the expired tag is from Florida and we've since moved to Texas. I'm not looking forward to having to get it inspected.

Maybe y'all have something like this going on else where but could not find. The point of the game is to get folks to take pictures of their scooter out and about with something specific in the background. The picture is posted and the challenge is for everyone else to duplicate the scene with their scooter in the foreground. For instance if poster "A" photographs his bike in front of a waterfall the challenge is to find a waterfall and shoot a photo of your scooter in front of it. The first rider to post a matching scene gets the right to set the next scene. RULES: 1) All photos must be current. No digging through archives to find a photo to match. The point is to get out, ride and enjoy the scenery and the challenge. All photos must include scooter. 2) Next challenge may not be a repeat of any of the previous 5 challenges. Let's keep it fresh. 3) Challenge winners set the specific parameters of the next challenge but must allow enough latitude to prevent unachievable matches. 4) If the challenge scene goes unmatched for 5 days the previous unmatched poster may post another challenge on day 6. Get out, ride and have a good time. If the moderators wish they may move this to any location they deem appropriate. I could have sworn there was a "Scooter Tag" thread years ago... or was that on Scooter Prof? Regardless, I can't find the thread on either forum, but I still have the pictures in my Photobucket account from 2010... I know we played at one point. ;-) Man, I need to get my scooter running (and legal) so I can play again.

Speechless. I don't know what say, but I feel I need to say something.

I've been done with Chinese scooters since I bought mine. Well, maybe not the first day, but at least since my first warranty claim.

The Matrix and I are once again in the same state. Broken. After a Spring Break roadtrip to Florida, we've recovered the last of our belongings. One hell of a drive back pulling a Uhaul trailer with my Vibe. Slow going, but we make it unscathed. I don't know when I'll back to tinkering with the bike, but at least now I have the option.

My question would be... what type of problems is he having? Compatibility issues? Crashing? Or is it just alien enough that he's having a hard time using it?
And what do you mean by Win7 Emulator? You should be able to run Win7 in a Virtual Machine, if that's what you're asking, but the performance won't be the same like a native install. I've used Virtual Box to experiment with Linux before and older versions of Windows. I'm sure Win 7 could easily be installed.
If its just a matter of not knowing how to use it, there are supposedly ways to make it function like Win 7 by disabling the Metro (Tile) interface. (I've never done it, since I don't own a Win8 machine) You could also hold out for Windows 10, which is reverting to a more familiar style.
Easier still, you could just trying to install Win 7 on the computer. You'll need a valid license to install it, but you're going to need that for for running it in a Virtual Machine anyway.

Is there any particular reason why when I click on the GAMES board, I start hearing the soundtrack to a porn flick?

My college roommate (and later my best man) lives in Homestead. His dad once told me that he can speak English, Spanish, some Mandarin and Choctaw... and uses them all. It's a different world down there.

Yeah, by your scale... I grew up in a 2, maybe a 3. My hometown has a population of about 175 people (and we lived in the suburbs : . We were isolated, but we didn't have to go that far to find civilization. My parents still can't get cable at their house and the only high speed internet options are the dish providers. My dad likes to tell the joke that our town used to have a stoplight, but the guy got tired of plugging in and pulling out the cord. I think I take more after my mom, the city girl from Detroit that my dad met in college and took back to the country. Since leaving for college in 1999, I've bounced around to different parts of Central Florida and the Space Coast and personally do much better in an urban environment. That being said, I was a bit intimidated the few times I've visited Chicago and NYC. Dallas is a good size, although the traffic is the worst I've ever seen with so much construction going on (part of the reason I moved here, because I work in the construction industry. Job security).

Wow... didn't mean to start such a debate! JR, what you're describing in AR is a lot how it was me growing up in west Michigan. My parents still live on 40 acres and their closest neighbor is 1/4 mile away. I had a 9 mile ride/drive to my K-12 school where my graduating class had 39 people. Some of the HS guys would ride their snowmobiles to school in the winter. The closest movie theater was a good 20 miles and the nearest shopping mall was about an hour away. The "good" mall was an hour and a half. The biggest news story for awhile was when the Applebee's by the movie theater burned down and how long it was going to take to rebuild. It was a great place to raise a family and I wouldn't trade my childhood for anything. I still see it as a great place to visit, but it no longer feels like home. As far as buying v. renting... I know I've been throwing money away for years. We plan on buying as soon as we're able. It'll be cheaper to buy a house than it is to rent an apartment around here. Just a few other financial matters to resolve first.

Yeah, we purged some things that we knew we weren't going to need, but we still just had too much stuff that we planned on keeping for later. The initial plan was that we were going to make the move into an apartment for a year while we feel out the area and then move into a house. At this point, we're probably going to move into another apartment, maybe a rental house if we're lucky enough to find something we can afford. Buying a house has been put on hold for a year or so while we recover from my wife not working for 6 months, but that's a whole different story (a financial nightmare).

LoL. You never know runningslow, you may just need a battery charge or new battery but if you had fuel in the tank that could be huge rust party in there. If so you may be able to get buy with a great filter vs replacing the tank like I did. I guess it all depends on how much you want to spend and deal with. 2 yrs ago, wow that's worth than my 1 yr hiatus and my 6 mo hiatus added together. Has it been indoors? Mine was outdoors in Miami but always covered. I don't know what kind of weather texas has this time of year or if you get snow ( I'm kinda dumb when it comes to geography and knowing weather other than NY and FL ) ... but if you don't deal with snow and have the great 70 degree breezy weather miami is having, its a great time to work on projects Or you can just drag it in the house and work on it while watching TV like I have before. I did it to get me to fix it faster but it didnt work. It sat in my living room for like 2 months one time LOL. Well pushing the scooter fix off until tomorrow. I feel like if I have a legitimate excuse and post it here it will hold me accountable and keep me from going MIA and pushing things off as usual. New bike parts came today so I've been working on that. I was going to try to get the the scooter this afternoon but its pouring now so shooting for tomorrow. On a positive note I learned the innards of a rear tire hub and the beach cruiser is no longer clanking loud and embarrassing me around the neighborhood. Can't wait for the parts for the mountain bike to come so I can fix that and have my 15lbs lighter / faster bike up and running too I've really got the itch to start riding again, but I'll have to be patient. We'll see what condition its in when I go retrieve it, which I'm hoping that will be later this winter. It has always been stored indoors (first in my garage, then moved to a storage unit.) We moved from the Orlando area to Dallas, TX back in February and a few of our things got shoved into storage back in Florida. We didn't really think that through, but it gives us an excuse to go back and visit. We should have just gotten a bigger truck the first time around and moved everything and put it all in storage here in Texas. We moved from a 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment, so it wasn't all going to fit. I'm not sure how much riding I'll be able to do in the winters around here. From what I saw last year, Dallas does get a bit of snow, but the big problem is ice. As far as finding a place to work on it, I'll probably end up doing that at the place where its stored. It it was at all possible, i might consider bringing things into our apartment, but that would mean taking the scooter up three flights of stairs. Not going to happen. My hiatus was definitely longer than yours. If you feel like reading, here's a thread with a few more details.
