I've had some legitimate reasons for a lack of urgency to fix this scooter (which is a story for another thread), but still even then the amount of time I am able to find to work on this thing is sparse..... wow.
Anyway. I finally got around to opening it up again. The exhaust valve was a little loose, but not too bad. I reset it to .004, buttoned it back up and tried to start it. It took a few tries (after sitting for a few weeks), but I got it to start. It idled OK for about a minute, then it started making this rattling, almost a squeaking sound. I should probably go an try to record it, but I'm afraid of doing irreparable damage at this point.
Frankly, to me it sounds like it could be an unlubricated bearing, perhaps at the cam. When I opened up valve cover, moments after it started making the sound, there was little to no oil in there.... there's supposed to be, right???
Going back more than a few months (since its been just that long), I'm wondering if plugging my oil cooler lines is actually blocking oil flow into the head? I don't know how the oil passages work in these QMK motors, but is there a chance oil is supposed to flow thru the cooler and into the head?

how do you see replacing the left case as needing an engine rebuild? o have replaced one after it cracked and i did not have to rebuild the engine. Call it what you want, but you're still splitting the case.

Pretty sure, but I'll let you know when I open it up again. They were both there when I opened it up today when I adjusted them.

Ok, so I finally got around to messing with this again.
I checked the valves, both were tight. I readjusted them, buttoned the scooter back up and tried starting it. Ran and idled fine again for a few minutes. So, I shut her down, aired up the tires and as I was getting ready to go for a quick test ride when it started making a rattling sound again.
Unfazed by this, I decided to open up the CVT to see if perhaps the rollers were misaligned, or something else of that nature. Found nothing wrong in there, left the variator off and tried to start it again. Still rattling. So... not CVT.
I'm going to let it cool down again and check the valves, again.
Thoughts??

Honestly... you have a few options: - Live without a kick start. - Replace the left case... basically an engine rebuild would be required. - Replace the whole motor. Not exactly the most cost effective, but probably the easiest way a non mechanic is going to get it done.
I'd recommend just removing the kick start all together and living without. I do. It has bit me in the bum a few times, but I've learned to deal with it.

Well... replacing the carb fixed one problem! I could get it rev up without dying... but...
After a little while of idling with the occasional rev, it started to make a bit a of an excessive rattling sound and eventually cut out. Now it won't stay running. I wonder if I may have a broken valve. I was too frustrated, plus I had other things to do, so I didn't dig into it.

If I'm not mistaken, Bill is talking about putting a 150cc into a frame intended for an electric scooter. So, the kit wouldn't be necessary, because he isn't doing a 50cc to 150cc conversion.

i put my scoot into free flow mode and tested it it started fine idled up some, but when i road tested it it wouldent do over 45 wide open and take offs were worse i adjusted the carb but that didnt do any good so i put it back the way it was and conected the carb back to the old air box and took it for a testspin ran the same but did return back to 49 mph but no more wide opened so i guess my question is when you first did your engine be for the bbk just exactly how did you set it up and did you have to rejet the carb to compensate for the free flow air intake i realize if i want any more out of the motor ill have to go to a bbk have to save some $$ for that, so for now i woud like to set it up like you did your trike ,and the bbk to come later thanks chuck I don't want to sound rude... but this isn't a "Tech Contribution". Most of the threads you've started here have been in the wrong board. Most of them should have gone in the "50cc to 200cc" Board in the Clinic.

I use the Proboards app on my Android phone. I prefer using that over the phone's browser any day. However, I can't see the need for an app on a tablet.

It bolts to the swing arm bolts that are above and below the dipstick. You may need to replace them with longer bolts. If you have a disc brake model, like me, the lower bracket arm will likely contact the swing arm rendering it it useless. When I still had my carbon pipe, I had to use a large stack of washers and really long bolts to shim the bracket out, then I bolted the muffler strap to the opposite side side of the bracket as intended. EDIT: Here's a picture . Can't really see in detail what's happening, but should help.

Yeah, that Carb comparison has been a part of BMS 260 marketing for awhile. Looks like they need to update that, now.

When I first moved to Central Florida in 2004, we lived through three hurricanes in one season that crossed through our part of state: Charley, Frances and Jeanne. Ivan came close, but mostly hit South Florida.
After Charley, we were without power for about a week.

I'm not from Chicago, but I did find this link while searching. There's a small snippet at the bottom about how to prepare a "char dog" vs the Classic: www.amazingribs.com/recipes/hot_dogs_and_sausages/chicago_hot_dogs.htmlCuriously, it has the same picture that you posted, so I think you may have already found it. The kryponite green relish is just sweet relish with food coloring.
