I finally decided to ride to Walter's (scooterelement) store in Coamo. It was only 88 miles when we rode threw the mountains but that was not the way to come back home. There is no lights and we had already hit rain for the majority of the ride there. It took almost 3 hours to get there since the people I was riding with wanted to stop for beverages (beer) along the way. Once we arrived there it was after 5pm and Walter had closed for the day. I only had his shop number and since no one was answering we decided to see if we could at least find it. Well as we went threw the town square I hear..Random Hero...Random Hero...as I turned I see that Walter had found me before I could find him. He opened the store so we could look around and see all his new arrivals. after about 30 minutes of chit chat I made my mental notes on the parts i will be ordering from him to build my next motor and we headed for home. Here are the only 2 photos i got before it started to rain. Links to the full size pics tinyurl.com/7qgmlf7tinyurl.com/79wqjrqWe decided since it was so late and since we where close to Ponce we stopped by La Guancha ( its a boardwalk area that has great food and music) before heading home on the freeway..102 miles of potholes and bad drivers . It was a looong ride home since it was dark and we had alot of hit and miss rain. I have learned to not to trust the radar here since it is always wrong. When we left the boardwalk there was no rain on the radar..but 20 miles into the ride i was wet. This is the route we took, in all it was 190 mile ride and the scooter performed flawlessly.

We got home around midnight that night....long day. I have told those 2 that 1 beer will get them a DWI and they dont seem to think its a big deal. After all the stops we wasted about 5 hours for them to drink. Next time i will not be bringing them along.

I ride around and i see people drinking their beer driving down the street. its crazy. and motorcycles we have a lower Blood alcohol level of .02 i believe to get a DUI and that is like 2 beers. but damn after midnight? you left here around 7pm i think.

Yea they like to stop..we had 2 long stops (about an hour each). The Hurricanes are nothing for my side of the island...its been about 30 years since one has hit the western side.

My house is located in a Disaster zone. The last hurricane last year i think Katie hit us real hard. it destroyed the bridge i need to cross to get to work. They are still repairing it now. and since i live next to a river it likes to rise when it rains lol. last time the hurricane came through Katie again it flooded so bad it was about 10 feet from my house. I am looking for a new place if not i will be prepared this year.

When I first moved to Central Florida in 2004, we lived through three hurricanes in one season that crossed through our part of state: Charley, Frances and Jeanne. Ivan came close, but mostly hit South Florida.
After Charley, we were without power for about a week.

Yea i am planning on buying a generator within a couple of months. here in my town the power goes out all the time during bad weather.

You mean they like to turn the power off for no reason...look into getting a propane powered generator. I keep 2 100lb bottles at all times.

good stuff dean i cant wait till my first trip to the island, i was going to go with my father this year but i have irs on my ą§§ so i cant go for another while. yes hurricanes suck. when the 3 hurricanes hit we didnt have power for a few weeks in our neck of the woods and fuel was sold out before we could get to the pumps, made for a couple of difficult weeks lol.
