Hi all! It's been awhile... a mere two years. A few things have changed in my life since the last time I posted, so where to start? Well, first of all... this happened: Lil' Miss Runningslow here is probably the number one reason I have been absent these past few years. Definitely daddy's girl. I was wrapped around her little finger before she was even born. She's been taking up a good portion of my time and most of my money, so riding just took a back(pillion) seat. The second major life event is that my little family moved from Florida to Texas this past February. I had an opportunity to transfer within my company from our Orlando office to Dallas. The move meant a better position for me and a nice bump in salary. It seemed like a no-brainer at the time. The move wasn't as good for my wife. She works in education as a School Psychologist. There was a bit of red tape she had to cut through to be able to work professionally in Texas, because they like to do things differently here. It took her a few months to land a job, then she had to wait for the beginning of the school year. She finally started working again in August, but at least she was home with the Lil' Miss so we weren't paying for childcare. The scooter. It's currently in storage... back in Florida.... we didn't think that one out too well, did we? Sometime in the next few months, I'm planning a trip back to retrieve our items that we left behind in storage, but I still need to work out those logistics... The final fate of my poor Matrix is still in debate, but one thing is certain: I'm going to get it running... or die trying. Obviously, I'll need to get it back in my possession before I start troubleshooting. When that time comes, I'll almost certainly be here on the forum getting help. At some point down the road I will finally buy myself a Versys. I've been talking about that even before I disappeared from the forum. As matter of fact, the wife and I were having a conversation about this other night and I even have her blessing. Its very low on the list of priorities, but its there. I've been off of two wheels for far too long. I need to feel the wind in my face again.

Bring the Matrix back to life! That's another epic thread...bring it on! How's Texas Josh, you like it out there? Very cute kid, so who did you harvest the genes from? Check in with us brohau, the gangs all together again and all the seas are calm. JR, Alley, and me are admins. Cyborg and Kaveman are on the staff. PJ had some health problems and took a leave but I left his board up. CC Prof took a retirement bonus and he checks in once in a while. Big Guy is still a member but we don't see much of him. So the place is the same but not the same....such is life. If y'all never read Josh's thread you should, it's a great story. Scooter Doc opened March 30th, 2010, and Josh started his thread two weeks later. We were all so young, I had a zit problem, well I still do, it has nothing to do with age, it's because of these damn herbs for.....I digress. Here's The Matrix Rebuilding!

Texas has treated us pretty well so far. My wife has extended family all over the state, so it brought us a little closer to family, but definitely miss the community we left behind, too. We had lived in central Florida for the better part of 10 years, so we had built quite a support circle. We'll be back to visit, afterall I have daughter... and she'll be begging to go see the Mouse in no time. When the time comes, I will definitely document the work I do to the Matrix, either in a new thread or continue the 20 page epic... time will tell. It'll be several months before I have to think about it. Its definitely going to need some TLC once I pull it from storage. Its only been in storage since February, but it has sat for pretty much two years. I really have no idea what condition the engine is in. It might need a new head and I probably need to source a new exhaust. For the finishing touches, it'll need some body work and a new paint job. Maybe in the end, I'll just make it look pretty and let someone else deal with the running issues. I'm not really sure, yet. Glad to hear that most of the same crew is still here. Wouldn't be the same ScooterDoc otherwise.

Mark Twain said that. My cousin, a high school teacher, had a stage act playing him. So I got to hear a lot of his missives.
Welcome back wayward soul. I'm Richard from Appleton, Wisconsin.

Mark Twain the term used when checking depth on the old river steam boats. They would toss a weight with string attached off the bow of the boat and follow it back to see if it hit bottom. Had marks on string denoting different depths. Were no dams then so river some times got knee deep.

Correct JCT! It was a trick question, Mark Twain was his pen name, his real name was Samuel Clemens! Mark twain means two fathoms or twelve feet.

Grew up on the Mississippi. Bought my first boat at the ripe old age of 15, patched transom and bought a western auto/merc 7.5 and I was captn john for a couple summers. Made money hauling scrap off the riprap.

Always great to recover lost sheep, be they with two wheels or the people who ride them. Don't think I ever chatted with you, but hey, a friend of a friend.....

I've gotta say I prefer the weather here in Dallas. I'll take a dry 105 over the hot and humid swamp I used to live in any day. I also didn't mind the bit of snow and ice when we first moved. It'll be nice to have seasons again. The Four Seasons of Florida: Hot, Hotter, Hotter than Hell, Christmas.

Richard, I grew up across Lake Michigan from you near Ludington, MI. Most of my immediate family is still around that area.

I've only been to the UP and northern areas and Novi(Detroit) for training. I'll be re-retiring in a couple years and northern Texas is one are I'm considering. I sure won't miss the protracted winter up here.

I shouldn't let the secret out but this is Bama: low taxes, gorgeous weather with short winters, you can ride year round, very little urban gridlock, nice people, beautiful country. This is the place to retire. I've lived in many places but I'll be here the rest of my life. Rich
