I'm going to be heading north to the UP next summer. My brother is getting married up near Ontonagon.
Texas. No state income tax.

I shouldn't let the secret out but this is Bama: low taxes, gorgeous weather with short winters, you can ride year round, very little urban gridlock, nice people, beautiful country. This is the place to retire. I've lived in many places but I'll be here the rest of my life. Rich Your talking to someone who has spent some time there and neighboring states, revisited several times in the late '70 and looked there for work in the early 2000s.
Bugs, snakes, being able to fry an egg on the sidewalk, they speak an unintelligible dialect and eat very strange 'food'. Did I mention bugs and snakes.
But then I got married in Beaumont, Texas.

I suffered a number of winters in Michigan, Novi, Howell, Brighton, White Lake. My heart is in Texas though. Raised there mostly. A bit in Missouri and a handful of other southern states, Georgia, Arkansas, Oklahoma...
I hate the cold. The snow would be fine if they could make it a nice 75 degrees. I totally love Hawaii. It really only has a couple of things I don't care for. I have to share it with every idiot that ever had a drivers license when they come as a tourist. Traffic is amazingly bad for such a small place. For what I spend on bills here I could live anywhere else like a King. And the by far biggest drawback is, No road trips on my bike. Boy I miss that.

At least in hi. No heating bills and airconditioning can't be that bad.

The Matrix and I are once again in the same state. Broken. After a Spring Break roadtrip to Florida, we've recovered the last of our belongings. One hell of a drive back pulling a Uhaul trailer with my Vibe. Slow going, but we make it unscathed. I don't know when I'll back to tinkering with the bike, but at least now I have the option.
