I am over 11k miles and I have been noticing my drive belt keeps getting loose like really loose the only time its tight and giving the bike good take off speeds is when I take off the variator and put it back on. Is this the clutch tension spring? I also don't think its the rollers because I can feel it up and down shift at the correct speeds.

How can you tell if the belt is loose or is it just a "feels like" situation. Does the engine rev higher than normal when accelerating or does it feel like it's pulling like being in high gear? Are the belt and variator weights original?

When I take the cvt cover An pull the belt up and down it's loose an floppy but if I pull the variator off and put it back on the belt gets very tight.
With the belt tight the bike all around fells and runs better
i feel it down shifting around 15 to 18 mph
when I look at the x shaped plate on the variator it's pushed out posibley because one or some of the rollers may have come out but what could cause that?

Well it sounds like the problem is your Contra spring is very weak which would mean that the Clutch Pulleys open up with very little force and the belt drops down and the Contra Spring is not strong enough to Close the Clutch Pulley plates to move the belt up to the top. But that you should be able to see right off the bat. When you say the belt is very loose where is the Belt on your Clutch Pulley plates. At stand still the Belt should be at the top of the Clutch Pulley plates and at the BOttom on the Variator Pulley plates. Alleyoop

Does the variator assembly slide easily when you remove and replace it? The only time the belt could be loose would be if the clutch is hanging open and the contra spring is not closing it when slowing down. Just removing and installing the variator would not free up the clutch if it is sticking in the open or top speed position. Like alleyoop said, the clutch should be closed and the belt will be at the outermost portion of the pulley unless it is sticking and or the contra spring is weak. If a roller was out of its track, acceleration would be slower because the variator would be partly closed. How many miles on the rollers and belt? Have you cleaned out the factory grease?

I agree with Alley and Cruiser. If you remove and put back the variator easily then the belt has to be low in the clutch. I believe you have 11000 miles on your scoot. I would suggest a new clutch, contra spring, belt, rollers or sliders, and maybe a new clutch bell. The pads on your clutch might be worn down. A good overhall and variator cleaning will bring your scoot to life.

See my post on "Let's talk belts". My belt was loose and slapping. Turned out to be the rivets on the clutch pulley were all coming out. This let the two pulley plates flop around so the belt wouldn't come back to the top of the pulleys at rest. Don't know if that's the same problem you had but it took me awhile to find it.

I will look into all of the sugestions I am reading. I just changed the drive belt at 10k along with the rollers and I also took the old grease out many times. I realy never did much stop and starting so I dont think the cluch pads should be worn to changeing time yet but I could be wrong. I comuted 60 miles a day with almost no stops. What is involved with removeing the cluch and bell. How do you remove and put back on the spring and whare and how much would a new spring and pads ext cost me.
I also read there is a tool for takeing off the spring.
