Hi Guys, I've got a question about my plates in my CVT. I noticed a bit of slipping so husband took the CVT apart and inspected for glazing or wear. You must remember I have a roketa mc54 250b with almost 9000 miles. The plates were smooth and shinny and had groves in two spots. I'm assuming they are from holding 45 and 60 for extended periods? The belt had a slight, very slight, shine to it. Other than that, everything looks good. Am I just due for a new belt? Or should I replace the plates, both front and rear plate sets are grooved? Or are both these conditions common and need no repair? I know I can dig up the specs on here for the belt to tell if it is worn or stretched, but what about those plates? Is there a minimum measurement that they should not exceed? Hope you can understand that. If you have any questions for me, post here and I'll get you the info to help me. Thanks in advance, Cat

When you say plates are you talking about inside of the variator and the clutch bell? Have you taken the variator out and looked at the rollers or sliders if you have them? Are the clutch pads worn down and smooth? With 9000 miles on it I wouldn't hesitate to change the belt. Why chance it breaking a few thousand miles from now.

Thanks speedracer And yes speed, that is exactly the "plates" I meant. We've looked at the clutch side, but not the variator side. (facing bike right side pulley assembly has been taken off and disassembled, left has not.) Clutch pads are about 1/4 inch thick if that helps. Was pretty sure we just needed belt, after all I've rode her all but 800 of the 9000 miles in the last 2 riding seasons. Will look up that belt JR and getrdone. LOL
