How does one take down the front plastics to access the driving lights? Is this really involved? If it's a total bitch I'm going to wait until i do the HID kit...
These things will get easier over time. But the the amount of screws you need to remove is nothing compared to accidentally stripping screw holes, breaking a plastic tab or loosing a speednut or screw. So inspect how each part is layered together and start removing screws. There are some screws under the floorboard that need to be removed also. Carefully pry the panel off. The panel has speednuts so make sure they are all there and be careful not the loose any since they may fall off. Unplug the headlight harness and your good to go.
Also take Jr's advice and put all the screws in a zip lock bag and tape it on the panel.
But which screws do I remove and how does the front part actually pull off? For instance does the dash need to come apart to get to it or anything? I guess I will have to figure it out but any tips? I want to do this anyway to silicon each screw. But if I'm gonna do it might as well get everything done at once.
The dash does not need to be removed. I believe the center plastic cover (on top of the windshield) needs to be removed in order to get to some screws. This is also the case with the floorboards. The whole assembly should come right out. Another one of Jr's tricks...put a towel on top of your front fender to protect the paint. If you're planning to install Xenon lights than do your work on a bench. And keep us posted regarding the headlight upgrade. I'm planning to do this too and I'm sure there are many people who will be interested in the results.
