Had a customer bring in his scoot for oil leak repair...at first I thought it was the starter motor O ring...then noticed that the crankcase near the starter was a little beat up...I asked him if there was an accident? or? He said that his starter was not working right, and heard that if he tapped it with a hammer it would engage...He more than tapped it - actually cracked the crankcase,
so lesson learned: don't be beating up defensless scooters with a hammer and expect it to behave...

Well if it is just a crack you can use JB weld to seal the crack, works great and since it is on top it is even better. On top only the splashing will get to it.
