On the 2008 scoots, we often found that the pick-up coil would go out when warmed up, at first, then go out altogether. We replaced quite a few...all seemed to be working now.

That Carino that kz is checking out is the same as my first scooter - the Znen built Lance Milan. I put a lot of miles on that bike. Bought it 2007 for $1300. I ended up selling these and the Flyscooter La Vie for $1800 in 2008 - sold about 50 or 60 of them...The La Vie seemed to hold up better than the Lance Milan. Unfortunately most of my customers (college kids) did not keep up with my strongly suggested service schedule...so I don't have a good idea of the reliability of a well maintained bike...I put 10,000 mi on mine with a lot of upkeep. The 2007 chinese bikes seemed to be a little better made than the 2008.

As a scooter dealer this is great news! My Symba gets around 120 mpg. I did read that US gas reserves are at a higher than normal level and that perhaps due to weather, demand is less than normal...should lead to lower prices, but not so...

My local Vespa dealer just closed his doors - he had bought too many scoots and couldn't sell them for the high prices Vespas are going for - he blames my store for stealing his business... His own 300i was listed recently for $5000...they are a very nice bike, but all that power and such little wheels....I'll stick to my Citycom 300i

Also suggest scrubbing the exhaust with steel wool to remove rust and spray paint with hi-temp paint (made for BBQ's)

Sometimes these carb bowl drains have the drain screw on the float bowl, with the tube hanging down - no screw at the bottom end of the drain hose thingy...

I agree with Jake - no gasket needed. Don't forget to clean the little filter screen thingy so the CVT gets plenty of cool air..

most likely the speedo driver gear - white lithium grease should do it.

interesting to note that it is powered by a "4 storke" engine and has a "Deli" carb. Flyscooters could not get the Scout CARB approved for sale in CA. - any B&M dealer in CA. with these bikes is subject to a $10,000 fine. I was considering buying out Fly's Scout inventory - but could not have them or sell them in my CA shop....I believe countyimports is based in Sacramento/Stocton area of CA....

Any one open up a La Vita Yet? We've got one thats bogs a bit at 45 mph - either fuel starvation, or air problem...Problemis we cannot figure how to open the darn thing up. There are little hidden screws and catches everywhere on this scoot. I mean I used to have a few old Vespas and Bajaj, where the side body panels kept just falling off...I cant get these to budge...

I am a brick (and marble/stone) and mortar scooter dealer here in the Santa Barbara area. Click on banner for link I started out selling Lance's Chinese scoots in 2007. We did REALLY good in 2008 - open 7 days a week, three or four scoots a day - record was 12 scoots sold in one day...Very little prep work - just changed the oil, charged the battery, gassed up and out they went... So...2009. hmmm not so good, gas prices went down, sales went down, the bikes were all falling apart... Time for a change! bought into the SYM and Adly, quality bikes, moved to a classier store front - new richer commuter clientele for these better bikes. Now 2010, one of our better years - sold less bikes(310), but spending far less time fixing them. More time enjoying them with customers that are actually happy with their scoots. I have been asked to: - move into internet sales
- buyout cheap inventories
- become a distributor
- open more stores...
Hey I am happy doin what I do! I have a happy store with fun people - it's catchy and I get time to ride! Now if only I could get rid of that goofy nickname...but my grandson still insists on Ooty...

Check Kiwi's awesome ride through New Zealand! 1000km, 15 hours... I did a very nice cruise on a SYM RV250 - had the luxory of delivering one to a customer a little over 300 miles away - up the coast of Ca. nice ride - averaged about 15 mph...stopped at Pismo for breakfast, Big Sur for lunch, Carmel for dinner...next day finally arrived in the Bay area, dropped off the bike, flew home (one hour)hopped on the Citycom and cruised down the coast to pick up the wife for dinner in Ventura, then back to Santa Barbara...nice road trip!
