At my old shop we had several test routes - one hill, one five mile level and straight, one twisty and one section of a high speed highway. For the Hall switch (crank trigger), it was up the hill, and then through the twisty, and then barrel back down the straight - switch would always cut out 50 yards before the shop. It had heated up to where it would cut out if bad...the walk back to the shop would help cool bike back down for working on it.

Had a customer bring in his scoot for oil leak repair...at first I thought it was the starter motor O ring...then noticed that the crankcase near the starter was a little beat up...I asked him if there was an accident? or? He said that his starter was not working right, and heard that if he tapped it with a hammer it would engage...He more than tapped it - actually cracked the crankcase, so lesson learned: don't be beating up defensless scooters with a hammer and expect it to behave...

I do recommend removing the variator, it makes putting the belt on so much easier and more often than not, the rollers need to be replaced when the belt is worn...

the little 50cc engines have a very small piston and cylinder doin a lot of work - we have seen many an engine wear itself out trying to haul 250 - 300 lbs around...500lbs is probably overloading the poor thing... but yeah, check those valves

I sell both the La Vita and the Adly Thunderbike 150 - they are two different bikes. I do not recommend the La Vita - it is a Chinese GY6 w/ fuel injection - we have had a few problems with it and no longer sell them. The TB 150 is a very well made scoot - Taiwan built, oil cooler, 4 valve, 13 HP... The Stella would be my favorite...

Nice lookin' ride! - one thing we used to do with the Vintage was to straddle the bike facing rear, and carefully pull the backrest forwards until the seat just clears it when opened - this way you can slide the cargo box forward to keep it from hiding the brake light...

Sad to see Daniel and Leon close up shop. They added a lot creativity to the business, both in design and promotion. Although I discontinued the Znen line last year, I did check up on the Fly guys just to get inspired by their enthusiasm. They had a great presentation and I learned a lot from them.

I believe the original rollers for the Phoenix were 16g, which gave the bike a good top end, but a bit of a bog at start...I can't remember the size though.

Ed, 13g works great with the Milan - the sliders even better. On that supplemental air intake - we just use the bottom section of tubing to jump from one vacuum port to the other, effectively just sealing it off - may have to lower and lean the idle to compensate... Don't forget to constantly check the muffler mount/rear swingarm bolts - they like to loosen up. I even lost my rear axle nut once...
