Front axle torqued?, air pressure in tire? I assume these were checked, then lets check the steering column - is there play in the handle bars with front wheel held tight? Most likely the nut at the top of steering column needs tightening, but it could be the triple tree bearings/race - especially under load. Also if there is any movement, side to side on the front wheel - check for bad wheel bearings or missing spacer.

We had a problem with fuel level sensor floats getting brittle and falling apart on many of our 08 Chinese scoots, I heard that the ethanol here in CA. reacted with the plastic floats and gummed up the jets. We used a little marine-grade Stabil or seafoam - seem to help

Thanks for all the research - you are definately not alone w/ this. We get about one stripped/sheared/missing exhaust manifold bolt scoot repair each week. Often to the point of replacing the head - we have, if possible, re-threaded the head and went up a bolt size to the 1/4", and have used a green high temp locktight. Seems to work on some bikes (or else our customers had the same problem and went somewhere else)

Great service to offer! We get so many scoots come into our shop from customers who order online, thinking that according to the web-dealer, their bike was "fully assembled and ready to ride" .... They usually arrive in the back of a pickup truck... My SYM and Adly scoots seem to be pretty problem free, so our mechanic is glad for the business. Our goal as a business is to get as many scoots on our streets as possible - no matter where they were purchased.

Oil leak

Hey scootmonk, my 1st GY6 scoot had an oil leak at about 1500 mi., I thought it might be head gasket, so removed valve cover and checked the torque on the head bolts - around 15 ftlbs - I was a little leery about over tightening anything on the Chinese metal, so left them at that, checked the valve clearance and then noticed the valve cover gasket was pretty smashed and one small crack in it - so replaced it, put it all back together and no leak. This was my 1st bit of wrenching in 35 years!

Heard today that the Cali Classic passed the rigid CARB emission and evap tests, only to be called back in for another re-test. It seems the protocols for testing have changed so many times that CARBs computer doesn't know how to read the results...

Hmmm, our Governator drives a Hummer, I hear he also got a ticket for riding his motorcycle without the proper M1 endorsement?!...

Hey Kiwi - good to see you here. What kind of tire (tyre) did you put on the Citycom? I sold my red Citycom, after breaking my arm, the current owner now has 10000 km on it and needs a new rear tire. I tried riding a HD 200 for a few months, but am spoiled, so back to a new Citycom! The new ones have a little more footroom and beefier mirrors...but same amazing ride!

Scooter dealers are having a tough time here in CA. - Calif. CARB (Ca air resources board) have been moving extremely slooow on their approvals for new 2010 scooters to be approved for sale in CA. At the moment, none of the Znen /Taizhou Zhongnen (Flyscooters. Lance, BMS, Znen) bikes have 2010 approval. No Adly, none of the SYM 125cc (Fiddle ll, Cali classic). It's tough to sell bikes when you can't get stock! I am still able to get the larger SYM HD 200, RV 250, and 300cc bikes as well as many of the 50cc. The biggest letdown is not being able to sell the "Cali Classic" a bike made with Calif. in mind! Some distributors may have even been pushed into illegal activities...
