Scooter dealers are having a tough time here in CA. - Calif. CARB (Ca air resources board) have been moving extremely slooow on their approvals for new 2010 scooters to be approved for sale in CA. At the moment, none of the Znen /Taizhou Zhongnen (Flyscooters. Lance, BMS, Znen) bikes have 2010 approval. No Adly, none of the SYM 125cc (Fiddle ll, Cali classic). It's tough to sell bikes when you can't get stock! I am still able to get the larger SYM HD 200, RV 250, and 300cc bikes as well as many of the 50cc. The biggest letdown is not being able to sell the "Cali Classic" a bike made with Calif. in mind! Some distributors may have even been pushed into illegal activities...

It's too bad those people who run the show can't get their act together. It really burns me to ban a little 75 mpg scooter and allow the assholes to drive the hummers and big suv's that get 10 and 12 mpg. all for the same purpose, to get a loaf of bread 2 miles up the street. The laws of supply and demand will end up pricing small scooters out of the reach of those who need them the most. John

Hmmm, our Governator drives a Hummer, I hear he also got a ticket for riding his motorcycle without the proper M1 endorsement?!...

Wow.....I just got a new Motorino Amore, basically Znen, cranked up yesterday. I took the bucket out to look at the good stuff and there were emission hoses EVERYWHERE! It has both the PAIR and vapor canister, I guess Arnold should be sucking on the exhaust pipe! That's just mean politics going on, tragic for nice honest dealers like yourself. Rich

UPDATE! I rode my new Motorino Amore 150cc down dreaded Rte. 280 at risk of life and limb to the DMV (about 10 miles) to get tags, they have to inspect the VIN you know. Just six months ago I registered two Peace 150cc's no problem, but as soon as the lady saw that it was a scooter this time she had to have a whispering contest with two other people over in the corner. I'm thinking ? It's a scooter, big deal! Anyway, she ambles back and tells me that if it doesn't have an EPA sticker that I can't register it! Luckilly this scoot has more hoses than Jesse James at a fan club meeting AND an EPA sticker. I can't believe it, this is Alabama, you can register a rolling turd here, but now you have to have an EPA sticker for a scoot; not for a car by the way. At the end of it all, she fails to check for the EPA sticker, I think she forgot since the procedure is so new. There's some kind of political backlash against the Chinese going on and I think and it's going to affect us unfortunately. Rich

Ga. is no better. I just traded my Tank 250 for the pickup truck of all scooters, an 05 TGB Delivery 150. It has been owned only by one other person who originally registered it in FL and then in TN when he moved. DMV tells me after the normal conference(where do they get these people? ) that I would have to have the original title, proof of insurance and that the sherriff would have to come to my house to verify the vin # and verify that it has a NHTSA sticker on it. It is an 05 model and has an EPA sticker, hope that is going to be enough. When I registered my fist scoot, an 06 Tank 150, they denied registration and said that since it was not in the DMV data log it was a home made scoot and could not be operated on the highways. It took 3 weeks to finally get it done. Remember, there is no cure for stupid!!

I haven't heard anything recently but this doesn't sound good for PA.

Heard today that the Cali Classic passed the rigid CARB emission and evap tests, only to be called back in for another re-test. It seems the protocols for testing have changed so many times that CARBs computer doesn't know how to read the results...
