I use dino 10/30 for break in and 10/40 Penzoil synthetic (used to use Castrol but not since I started boycotting all the BP products I can). Use synthetic in my gear box as well no leak problems. I change my engine oil about every 750 miles or so and the gear box twice per season which amounts to every 1200 miles or so.

I believe it's called Rotex. We buy it by the gallon. My scooter leaks, so putting in Amsoil isn't worth it. I change it when it gets dirty.

I think it is due to cheap oil, you must be used poor quality oil . Always use standard oil in your scooter and get your scooter oil change with proper time.

I just joined this forum and thought I'd chime in. I've used full synthetic in all my equipment (mowers, garden tractor, snow blower, pressure washer) and vehicles. I used it in my Harley and Kymco People 150. Never had any problems at all. A interesting point. I just bought a new (2012) Kymco People GTI300. On page 29 of the factory owners manual it specifically states to use "a full synthetic quality 4-stroke engine oil".
