I have a 2012 Kymco GTI300. I am going to replace the tires with Michelin City Grips for better wet weather capability. I was going to replace the front 110/70-16 with a 120/70-16. Will this have any adverse effects on my scooter? I'm thinking the slightly larger diameter tire will help correct my slightly optimistic speedometer.

I finally picked up my new People GTI300 from the dealer on Saturday. Got it home and immediately wired up the unused European turn signals as running lights. Then I installed my Biondi windshield. I removed the side reflectors for a cleaner look , and put black and blue reflective graphics down the side for visibility. Next I have to install my new SH40 Shad cargo topcase. I'm replacing the stock one so I can take it off when I want. Last project will be 14Gram Dr. Pulley sliders but that will wait till I get 1000 miles or so. Top case installed today. Now if the rain would stop, I can ride!

Just found out the factory accessory plug was only for cell phone charging. Installed another 12 volt accessory plug for my GPS.

Oil

I just bought a new (2012) Kymco People GTI300. On page 29 of the owners manual it states "Use a full synthetic quality engine oil to ensure longer service life of your scooter". I will change the oil myself at 100 miles and use conventional, but when the dealer does the 600 mile service, I will changeover to full synthetic.

Welcome Mike. Must be something about upstate NY. I also am 68 and live down the road in Rochester. duck Keppler. Own a BMS Patriot 150. I've been thinking about going to a cycle, but haven't decided yet I had my Harley for 13 years and enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately that 643lbs with a clutch just got to be too much for in town riding for me. Love these lighter scooters with CVT. Consider the weight factor and ride it before you buy it.

I just joined this forum and thought I'd chime in. I've used full synthetic in all my equipment (mowers, garden tractor, snow blower, pressure washer) and vehicles. I used it in my Harley and Kymco People 150. Never had any problems at all. A interesting point. I just bought a new (2012) Kymco People GTI300. On page 29 of the factory owners manual it specifically states to use "a full synthetic quality 4-stroke engine oil".

I put this suggestion in all the forums I belong to. I suggest that members put their location in their profiles. The purpose is two-fold:
1. You could identify possible folks in your area to ride with.
2. You could possibly get some hands on help with your scooter if needed.
In my case, I'm a retired mechanic who loves to putter. I have a heated garage and plenty of tools. I would be glad to help any Do-It-Yourselfers out there in my area with maintenance or basic mods.

My name is Mike Haggerty from Syracuse, NY. I'm 68 years old. I went from a Harley last year to a Kymco People 150. Sold that in the fall and now own a Kymco People GTI300. Looking foreward to giving and receiving good info from fellow forum members.
