Bad Carb???

Yes they have a Air/Fuel Mixture on those you will usually find it UNDER the Carb in front. Pain in the you know what to get to. And yes cooler weather can cause bogging if the Air/Fuel mixture was setup for hot weather. In Cold weather the Engine Needs more fuel. In Warm/Hot weather the engine needs Less Fuel and that is because of the type of Air it is getting. So if left with the warm setting in Cold weather it will run Lean and sometimes TO Lean.

USMARINE 112 Let me ask you a couple of ?'s There is a hose coming from the carb bowl down to the bottom of your scoot. You can't see the screw but it's there. Get a screw driver and make sure it's tight. If it is loose, it will suck air up into the carb and screw up the mixture and therefore bogg. The only reason my scoot bogged was, the needle stuck in the carb. Scoot would idle fine but give it throdle and it would bogg and wouldn't go. Are you running " Wide Open Throddle"? If so, tap on the round cover and see if that helps any . ( not to hard, the cover will dent) These are just a few ideas to try.

Scooterran, Yeah I was thinking about that screw first and it was already tight...
On the other hand, I do believe that the air/fuel mixture might be set for hot weather as most of the year her in AZ temps are 80+ and usually reaching 120+ in summer time... So most of my riding was done from MAY and on and maybe it just got used to running on hot air.. If anyone has a photo of where the air/fuel mixture screw is at on my Carb please post it so that I can find it... I have no idea which one it is on this Carb. I've ordered a new Carb so do I need to adjust the screw when I get it?
Thanks everyone for your help!!!

Ok, I found the air /fuel mixture screw on the bottom front of the carb, just below the manifold... Ok now, how in the world do you adjust it if you have to remove the carb?? Does anyone know? Or do you just remove it, turn it to a direction and then install it and see what happens??? That would be a big pain in the butt.. Can anyone suggest how to do this... Temps here just began dropping dramatically at night so if it's cold air that's a problem then I can fix the old carb and keep the new one as a spare... Oh yeah, after reading the air/fuel adjustment tutorial in the tech section...I see that you should only adjust it if you are having problems at low speeds... I'm only bogging out when I cruise at 65+.... Any thoughts?

Got your new carb yet? Try removing your choke and replacing it with the new one. I think Ally had a thread that shows how a choke works. Try that...

Well I hate to disagree with what they say about the Air/Fuel Mixture that it only applies to low speeds. But that passage is ALWAYS feeding gas into the intake all the way to WOT and the gas comes right in front of the ButterFly. The same thing happens if your ENRICHER is stuck OPEN and not EXTENDED to shut off the extra fuel for COLD starts. As you look into the INTAKE by the BUTTERFLY on the bottom you will see 5 little holes some you have to open the BUTTERFLY to see. The bigger hole to the right and about 1/4 inch up the right side is where the ENRICHER fuel passage. And now you found that on your Carb it is a PAIN IN THE REAR because of where it is at. Why don't you try richen up your current carb, Turn that sucker out 1 full turn and try it. Most of us here in the colder area of the country have to turn them out sometimes 2-3 turns so it runs good in the winter. Here are the Air/Fuel Mixture passaages and the Enricher Passage. Ok, so I got the carb in and it was not exactly the same as I had... But what I did do was replace my old carb parts with the new one and just left the actual housing the same... Started it up and took it for a spin... Still was bogging... Took it back and unscrewed the air/fuel mixture out about three full spins... Took it for a spin... During take off, scoot will have a slight hard time taken off but once it moves I was able to cruise without any bogging at all... I'm assuming that it was the cold air the entire time that was causing bogging.. But now I don't know why it seems like it lacks fuel during initial takeoff and then its like it just gets it and takes off... Any thoughts??? Thanks!!

If I remember correctly, there was one port on the carb that a vacuum line connects to and it is at an angle. I had to cut the vacuum hose at an angle so it would fit correctly. ( A possible air leak )

Great that you got it running good now. Yes if it is sluggish on takeoffs you probably have the Air/Fuel Mixture just a little to rich. Turn it back in a little like Jr said, you are very very close so I would turn it in 1/4 turn at a time and try it. Alleyoop
