Here is another advertisement for the same variator with a better view of the parts: It looks like it works like any other variator, it is just that there is less excess metal where it is not needed.

Looks to me like it works something like the JCosta variator.

yeah, seems like a complicated version of Jcosta !! ..hmmm bizarre!...amazing how high technology works even with scooters....and it all started with the Morphous!.......(no bad comments pls..LOL)
