UNBELIEVABLE! Some moron just tried to drive under that railroad bridge again! The roads are clear, sky is the normal grey, and signs are all up and down the road. If people can't see a freakin stone BRIDGE, what odds do we face??? This happens EVERY YEAR! Some idiot tries to get a 12ft. tractor-trailer under an 11ft. 6in. bridge. If it isn't this one it's the one on parkway by the lake, usually both. www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2010/12/tractor-trailer_truck_gets_stu.htmlI really think the state should stop letting these blind drive behind the wheel! I don't care how much train their seeing eye dogs have! M/C Rich, you want to do your magic on a pix, please do. thanx

Dont get me wrong, this guy screwed up big time. Hitting an overhead object IS a job/career ender. Its in the DOT regs now that theres a drug test done after any major accident and most companies drug/alcohol test after any accident. Oh, and the height of most Tractor Trailers is 13'6".

Yeah, when they are that far under you got to wonder at what point they said f**k it and just hammered the accelerator. We had a driver that was talking on the phone and hit an overpass. He musta been flying down that city street. He hit it so hard that he ripped about a foot off the roof all the way back to the rear doors and left the roof and rear doors lying in the middle of the street.

We get them around here too. The most infuriating thing we ever had on vacation was the year we were coming come from the shore and some idiot wedged his trailer in the Norfolk Bridge/Tunnel. We sat on the bridge for about 4 hours with the little ones bored/hungry and needing to go to the bathroom.

When I lived on Long Island they had signs warning trucks away from the parkways. Don't you know occasionally some out of stater would barrel into an undersize overpass where he didn't belong and shear the top right off. Now they have bigger signs and overhead banners replicating the tops of the parkway limits so trucks can see they're about to get into trouble and turn around. Even still some joker ignores the warnings and gets into trouble.

I am guessing you never made a mistake at work? Dont get me wrong, this guy screwed up big time. Hitting an overhead object IS a job/career ender. Its in the DOT regs now that theres a drug test done after any major accident and most companies drug/alcohol test after any accident. Oh, and the height of most Tractor Trailers is 13'6". Who said I've never made a mistake? Me? Did I put that in my post? Excuse me for not going to the scene and measuring the height of that exact trailer. If it's 12' or 13'6" or 11'7" makes no difference! It WON'T fit under an object that is has 11'6" clearance. The first point of the the post is that it happens far too often by so called "professionals". The one last fall cost four people their lives because the driver of a tour bus passed 5 warning signs and slammed into a bridge just like that one. The second point is that if the driver can't see a big arse bridge, what about a small arse scooter? Next time I'll make sure every detail is absolutely accurate just for you. M/C

No need to do that. Im sure the driver filled out his accident kit report properly. Relax, I was just stating some info in response to your post. Andy
