I looked at scooters and motorcycles. They had Tomos badged Heritage style 150cc Chinascoots for $1398. Doesn't seem like a smart buy to me.
I sat on a 2009 Kymco Xciting 500Ri, it felt like I was riding on the second floor balcony. I am 6ft, 170lb and felt like I was perched up there pretty high. They wanted $6800 for the Kymco.
In the scooter realm, I can't find a better value per dollar (for a new one) than a Chinese 250. Any bigger than that, then the motorcycles seem like a better value.

If you want a 250 it isn't a smart buy. But for a 150 it's a great price. Tomos has their scooters built by SYM in China just like the Lance Cali Classic and, for one year, the Yamaha Zuma 125. You can't go wrong at that price. A dependable engine, first rate components and 12" wheels. I would imagine once broken in it would do a real 55 mph all day, no problem.

KZ is correct. I have a friend who rides a Tomos Chinese Scoot and it has given him exellent service. Tomos has exacting standards and the Chinese will build to them or lose the account. I ride a 2001 Tomos Revival, modified, and love it. It is built in Slovania. Sym builds good scoots. i would go with the Tomos.

Zhen. Bms and Tomas are all in bed together to fly above the generics
BMS scooters are built by Znen. Tomos scooters are built in SYM's factory in China. Most of the Taiwanese have factories in China for cost purposes but have higher standards than the run of the mill Chinese factory, the exception being CF Moto. The Kymco Super 8 and Agilities are built in China and have reputations as excellent as their Taiwan built stablemates.
