I considering adding extra lighting to my scooter saw something really cool that is just One big light, like a motorcycle has. It connects to ground and the battery. Its 55w. Can the battery handle this being on all the time (when the scooter is running).. Or is it better to run it off the lights and have the Stator charge it.. My stator is 8 coil .. just some idea im throwing out there..

Justguy1, My suggestion is do not modify crap on it until you get the sucker running good and everything working like it should. You do NOT want to introduce another problem for yourselve until the Current setup is running like it should. Just my .02 Bro Alleyoop

The voltage on both the 8 and 11 pole stators is most likely the same. What is different is the amount of total power or current which would be higher for the 11 pole stators.

Actually what I was looking at is a single 35W light.. its like a utility light similar to what cops use on their doors.. its looks like an round motorcycle light.. has two wires one for ground and one to hook up either to piggy back off of the headlights or directly to battery via a switch. so its not high/low beams. I just want to make sure that I can see at night and be seen...

On mine an extra 35watts would rob the battery charging enough that the battery would go flat in a week or so. There is very very little extra on these stators

Would a bad Regulator/rectifier cause the gas gauge, speedometer and tripodometer to not work?? I have checked all the wiring and can't find a thing wrong.. I don't know they are not working.. Its back to the beginning..
Sprocket.. I had to have enough to run a radio since the scooter came with a radio.. But I have the radio disconnected right now..

Well if the Speedometer is not working then the Tripodometer will not work as well. Reason is that it runs off the Speedometer gears. So from what you are saying your speedometer is digital is that correct? As far as your gas guage stick a piece of wire or something down into the tank and try lifting the float and see if your gauge goes up. It could be that the swivel arm is really loose against the Resistor plate and not making connect when it moves. Or the Float has a leak and is filling up with gas and registering empty all the time. So stick something down there and sort of push it a little to the left side of the tank as you raise it up and see if the needle moves up. If it moves then you know it is getting juice and you will have to take it out and check if the Float is filling up with gas or it is loose against the resistor plate. I think that your speedometer and odometer work off a cable which is connected to the front wheel down near the axle. Looks like this: www.iscooterparts.com/store/p/473-Instrument-Speedometer-Cable-TLX.htmlThe cable setup does not use the battery to operate. Alleyoop's advice about the fuel level sending unit is good and should give you an idea about how well it works.

Alley.. Im guessing that is what may be the cause... Don't forget when I changed out the engines I had drained the gas tank most of the way down.. It may have gotten stuck.. Also my speedometer is NOT digital.. its just the regular kind like in a car..
I will check the speedometer wiring on the front wheel. Maybe when I had the front off it knocked the wire loose cause the speedometer was working the first time I rode it..
