Welcome to Scooter Doc, ringinding1. Could you describe what you mean when you say it sparks? I don't think you could tell if the spark plug sparks unless you removed it and could see the spark jumping. Do you mean the starter tries to turn over just by turning the key on? If so, then you have a starter circuit problem. For all interested, here's the owner's manual. schwinnmotorsports.com/uploads/manuals/2009manuals/valo_50_owners_manual_09.pdfLooks like a standard Chinese 50cc setup. Nice scoot. Has LED lighting standard.

It sounds like a problem with the CDI or associated wiring. I'm sure he's looking for a wiring diagram. If you have one, send it over. Maybe a picture of the CDI and the area around it might help. Did you say it's a DC CDI? I'm wondering if the DC feed is intermittent? You might want to check the plug at the CDI to make sure everything is tight and the wiring in that area is in good condition.

What sparks? The plug?
If this is the case you have a problem in the key switch or the starter switch is not correctly wired.
If you mean by 'pulses' the starter is running, then you have a starter solenoid stuck closed... or once again the starter switch is not wired correctly or it is stuck in the 'on' position inside the switch...

I suspect you had a DC - CDI in an AC circuit or visa-versa
