Today I started my engine swap and I discovered that the stator btw is both 8 coils so I dont' have to swap them but the wiring is different the new one has 2 wires yellow and white The old motor has 3 wires Can I use this harness the way it is and were does the green wire go is it a ground because I can make my own ground? I really don't want to put anymore pressure on the flywheel because I've tried to pull it off and it wont budge. Assistance is need please I'd like to get the motor put in tomorrow and have it running.

Most green wires on scooters are grounds... but you should check it with a multimeter or VOM to be certain.
However the old engine seems to have the white on the bottom of the plug and the new one (green plug) has it on the top
I'm not sure what to make of that...

PJ can you post pics of the plugs on both engines and the one on the scooter ? did they send you a different regulator ? show us the whole story.

This may help.. there are versions of this diagram floating around that have the white and yellow reversed. This is correct from what I understand...for the 150cc GY6 at least. Attachments:

Those are the plugs off of both the scooters the colors match on the old one the difference is the new one . What I am doing is taking out my 50cc and putting in a new 80cc complete motor. I have all new equipment with the new one just some slight differences but those are cosmetic. My wiring is different with the new motor all I want to know is do i need to make another ground(thats easy) and do I have to move the white over one position?

I suspect that the AC voltages on both the white and ground and yellow and ground are about the same. On my 150cc they both run about 65 volts AC. So they could be interchanged I would think.
On a 50cc I have no idea...

So let get this straight I need to run a single ground wire from the harness to a ground then I also need to run a single ground wire from the cdi(the green wire) to a ground on the bike? Sorry I am just making sure I read your answer to my problem. I'm not trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. PJ

PJ follow sprockets diagram if you have extra ground wires connect the the engine it would not hurt to get a green wire from the home dumbo connect to the battery neg , frame and engine 12AWG . Make that your primary ground

On chinese scooters you can't have too many grounds...seriously.
I have cut open green ground wires and there are 3 strands of very fine copper wire in there.
I now touch all the wires especially to heavy draws like the headlights etc. If I feel the wire is warm to the touch, it probably has less copper than it should have...
The trick is to replace then with 18 AWG before they meltdown...

I wonder how much power is lost in the wire , I think all the wires are too skinny on the scooter
