I've never actually tried to kick start the scooter.
But i was wondering since i don't have a manual or much experience without he Chinese scooters..
How do i kick start the 50cc scooter?
I know with the push button you need the safety lock out of the brake
Any help?

Don't forget to position correctly your kill switch too!

Squeeze the brake? I kick started the Lance numerous times without squeezing the brake. Isn't the brake switch just there for the electric start circuit?

Not on my Lifan... you must squeeze either brake to start it by electric or kickstarter...

As I have to kick-start the DiBlasi R7E, take some time to get the feel for your bike. You'll probably feel the engine compression, just before it kicks. (Or at least this is what I get with the DiBlasi.)
And please wear solid sole shoes- it makes it so much easier on your feet! Leave the Crocs and flip-flops to those lame idiots who race their scoots on Mulholland Drive and slide under the guardrails!

Squeeze the brake? I kick started the Lance numerous times Hey , I'm getting pretty tired of it too. Stop kicking me! I'm awake! Skooter, both answers are correct, some scoot you need to do the brake deal and some don't. Easy to check, try it one way, then the other. When it fires up.... I agree with the boot reply. Put something decent on you feet first. M/C

I kicked that thing 50 times...it just doesn't want to start with the kick start. Tried brake, no brake..tried talking nice to it, and then threatening it with a 400+lb woman with bad hygiene....still nothing.
It's a shame I can't bump start it.
I guess i'll just keep the battery charged and AAA paid up.

My old 150 would not kick start unless it was up on the center stand.

OK so far so good. I have finally been able to kick start the scooter. I just had to get used to doing it, and find a way that it works best.
My next question.. With the button start, when it's cold..some times it does not want to engage the starter. It has battery, and if i try to kick start it, then go back to the push button start it turns over fine.
Is the starter going bad?

No, the battery. Believe it or not when you kick it you spin the stator, which generates electricity, which charges the battery, which now has the amps to engage the starter.

How is you oil level? Sounds like the engine is really tight. When you kick it over a couple of times it gets lubricated and then the electric starter will turn it over...
